ive lost it........
andyboombox - 2011-12-23 03:26
merry christmas guys.....no before you worry about my sanity i havent gone cuckoo, contrary to some peoples beliefsno, when i say ive lost it,ive lost it when it comes to vintage boxes
its been coming for a while now im afraid, due to a mix of finding nothing in the wild, bum steers and ebay ive decided to give up on everything south of 1990.
but what i have got into now is eggs-yes,you read me right-eggs!i always swore id never get into these but guys the sad fact of life is there are plenty out there, and at my price level-im not talking totally modern disposable junk, but the 90s cobras, kabooms and other powerful stuff.i have several vintage boxes left, and i just cant get into them now like i used to.so they are going away bubble wrapped up and safe for perhaps one day when i get the vibe again.i have just picked up from the recycling centre a panasonic rx-dt401-its not even a cobra, but it was free and i actually love it-the sound is great on it too.looking out now for the dt707 and dt75-for me this is the way forward!
so hope all my friends, past and present have a wonderful, prosperous and a bountyful 2012,and who knows,i might still see you in the fleas or carboots.

I know it drives many on here crazy to think & talk about the non-classic looking boomers, but there are loads of top quality boomers out there from the 'Decline & Fall' era. Most major manufacturers (Sony, JVC, Panasonic, etc.) still had some choice boomers at the top of their ranges.
Is that a Beosystem10 you've got in yr Av Andy?
After reading your post here I thought that i would upload a few pictures of a ( Egg Shaped Boomer ) to assist you In Your Quest for These shaped Box's and the description saved from the listing, here goes...

andyboombox - 2011-12-23 06:54
cheers james-ive had that rx ds45 a while ago,it was a fantastic unit with great sound.....contrary to some but i love the look of these 90s units.....anyone with some brochures they can scan please?
isolator42 - 2011-12-23 07:38
That Panny RX-DS45: all those toys & only a tone control.
Ok, there's an X-BS level slider too, so in reality we're looking at Bass & treble controls - still better than preset EQs
Best Egg would have to be one of the *top* of the range Panny Cobratops surely? Panasonic RX-DT75 or RX-DT707
andyboombox - 2011-12-23 07:47
your right i42-thats what im looking out for now!my new dt401's cd is inop-you put a cd in,it comes up 'cd' on the display but does nothing else.....no whirring into life or anything.....any ideas mate????im new to cds after a break of 10+ years of owning a player and have just gotten used to tape deck repairs lol....but i definately want to save it because i love it!!!!

Andy if your into eggs Ive got one Ill let you have (and only you) for nothing as Ive lost the urge to sort its faults, its a Panasonic RX-DS25, no remote and the faults are it skips on CD's and the volume control doesnt seem to work.
hardmen - 2011-12-23 14:09
Those egg shaped blaster it´s hated for most collectors, but many opinions fall over when the power is on and the volume it´s CRANKS!!!
The one below is mine!!!
