Digital or Analog

samsnite - 2012-03-24 06:29

What you think? Digital or analog tuning? Your opinion?

I think (almost) nothing beats a solid big weighted tuning knob. Fast and accurate.

I have not stumbled upon a digital tuner from the 80's-90's that is easy to use. ALOT of button pushing... and the frustration to save some presets just to realize they are gone the next time you use the radio... aargh!

i love the digital tuners 100% better than analog, like on my gf-9595, pana 680, aiwa 880,  the reason why is because i am afraid that the string might break , and is also faster to get the station you are looking for, and the memory will always be there as long as you put a battery in the radio,

Is there a boombox with a weighted tuning knob?

Frankly, i have no idea... i was talking in general. I still prefer knob over buttons, weighted or not.

some grundig, telefunken have weighted knobs , i still like to manual tune never had a dab radio , dial cord it took me hours to re-cord a grundig 3400 3 to do on it

I'll say digital...

For me it's just easier to dial up to correct frequency....call it laziness

the pioneer sk909l has a weighted tuning knob, it feels so quality to use, i don't mind either digital or analogue tuning, the m80 has both

Analoge has all the stations pre-set

I've always been fond of the over sized fly wheel tuning knobs on 80's receivers and boom boxes.

I love a weighted knob

My current tuner is a Sony SA3es - and has a lovely "feel"

Ooh. An st-sa3es. i have an st-s444esx. No knobs, and from a few years before the sa3, but it's a great tuner.

I remember as a kid spinning the dial on my dad's akai aa-1040 receiver. I'm surprised the string never broke since my favorite thing to do was spin it completely to either side to hear the straining noise it would make.

I used to do that to my Marantz....it used to be my parents and as I kid I'd whip that dial from one end to the other. Little did I know....now I have it and keep it behind a glass door from my kids
