Sharps that all looked the same

Why do you think Sharp started making a whole range that looked almost the same, theres the 4343, the 4646, the 4747, the 5454, maybe more?
They all seem to lack a bit in the bells and whistles department so im guessing these were a budget radio range to cash in on the boombox craze of the time??
They do all look very similar though, are they all similar size? is one much better sounding than the others?
I have often thought of adding one to my collection, maybe out of curiosity, but dont know which one.

my fave out of those models is the 5454,used to have one, dont know what i did with it..they are pretty kool though with leds, shame they dont have slightly better speakers and bass and treble control instead of just tone..
