hey guys....can someone tell me what to set all the knobs to when recording from line in onto tape..........

novice question but i dont really use the function............cheeeerz

i have done some recording of radio and line in on tdk tapes had funtion on line in , rec mode on manual, rec level set about 7 , tape fader in the middle , dubbing off on play back sounds fine .   just finished getting my 777 sorted out bad caps re-placed , good scrub replaced drive belts good clean up on the decks cleaning the idlers for fw/rewind what a differance it has made sounds great also no sluggish rewind/fwd

i always record manually and set the level about half way, always does the trick
