Current boomboxes

I've been casually researching for a GE Blockbuster over the past few months. I began to wonder why a box like that isn't produced today.
Is there a currrent "boombox" - like in an 80s style - that is in production and can be purchsed today?

lasonic i931 is an 80's replica that houses an ipod dock instead of a tape deck.
these boxes can be found all over epay too.
i don't have one myself but believe their not a touch on the original 80's 931's.
i don't know of any others off my head, hope this helps

I seen a couple for sale here and there...thanks for the info. The i's don't seem to be near the same quality as the original 931s.
Anyone else know of a quality box still in production?

Anything like the Blockbuster would cost a fortune today.
The latest Lasonic i931x is alright an a bit of an improvement over the previous i931. Quality? A lot of people on here probably won't like to hear me say this at all, but the original Lasonics weren't exactly top notch gear. They were mostly sold at flea markets and dime stores back in the day. Broken band and function selector switches are very common as their over all build quality left a lot to be desired.
This one's not exactly old school looking, and I have yet to get my hands on one, but it could be something good:

With just 6 D cells and 4" speakers it's a safe bet that it's not exactly going to win any awards.
This is mono junk:

Also sold as the Quantum FX J-90U.
This is a big bowl of ok:

Smallish speakers , no tone controls, and not a lot of output power, but for what it is it's ok.
Mono, the AM/MW and SW bands are awful, and there's no tone control, but I love mine, and they're dirt cheap:

Ugly as homemade sin, and probably junk, but I have one coming:

Why? Well, they're inexpensive and from what I understand there's a tone knob, and the tape deck and SD and USB ports are in stereo.

the tdk boomboxes are pretty modern looking, but they pack a punch, quality sound

Yea, the 3 speaker TDK looks sweet. 499.99 is bit to much for me.

Would you consider either of these a "real" boombox?

"Bose" translated means "You spent how much on what?!"

Not sure about those, but I can tell you they make good radios. The E5/G5, "Aviator" G6, and YB 400/G4000A are all great. The S-350 and S-350DL feel a bit cheap, but have decent sound.
The S-450DLX feels like it's a better build quality and has decent sound, but the tuner sucks. However the good news is that it has a line-level input, good 4 inch speaker, 2 1/2 watts or output power, bass and treble controls, and s shoulder strap, so for $100 or even better on sale at Rat Shack occasionally for $65 or so it makes a decent inexpensive mono box. The tuner is alright for your average listener, but if you're looking for AM/MW and SW DX, like I said before, it sucks.
Eton/Gundig stuff sounds decent if their bigger radios are a fair representation, but as far as build quality versus price the S-350 models make me a bit suspect. Personally I'd like to see and feel one first hand before I'd take the plunge on one.
