This guy has a great sense of humor, he has made speaker rings out of ... frying pans!

This boomer has tube amp, and another unusual solution for the tube enclosure

Superb...

Are you trying to tell us you cut perfect circles from a saucepan with a jigsaw?

a most ridiculous way to cut stainless --

and just about  impossible to make inner//outer perfect rings..

Metad this is the most inovative post lately thanks for sharing.

the quote is just funny. LOL

by the way i think that after he cuts the aluminum he would need to shave it with a grinder to make it perfect.

Sure, he had to finish them with grinding wheel, sandpaper, etc, cause impossible to cut ideal ring from the first cut, and you're right Driptip, that pan looks like alluminium one, not the stainless, and I'm pretty sure there is no fool on the earth, who decides to cut stainless with jigsaw, maybe just one. LOL.

redbenjoe - 2012-08-09 15:16

wowee--jeepers -

you guys are so impressive !!

obviously we are blessed with at least 2 members with total  knowledge

and vast hands-on experience at carving perfect metal trim rings

and your timing is so perfect --

feeling so lucky --YES !!

i need 2 wide rings to finish up my custom 10" woofer box

polished aluminum is fine--use your pans and jigsaws-

be extra careful with your grinding wheels

OD = 11" // ID = 10"  -- 3/16" thick....

gently radius the corners

US$150 for the pair --shipped to USA, florida

30 days is cool

DEAL ?

10 job

retro - 2012-08-09 15:55

That looks amazing redbenjoe, when I initially saw this post, I thought the aluminum trimmings could be a great finishing touch to your project as well.

redbenjoe - 2012-08-09 16:12

thanks alot retro --

YOU are the cause of all this !!!

its almost done --

except for the past 4 months --i have been waiting for some junker rc550s to

pop up --just for the 10" rings and the other cosmetics --

but even the basket cases are several $$ hundred -

so - thats for ' someday'

retrodos - 2012-08-09 16:34

Great custom job, looks great.

redbenjoe - 2012-08-09 16:39

thanks --the big woofs are just ' no-name ' cheap close-outs

from Parts Express -- but they sound awesome

MR, redbenjoe

me and everybody else knows that you have a beef with Metad, DO NOT  I REPEAT DO NOT try to involve me in your problems,  if you dont like my posts ignore them,  just dont come here  trying to be a tuff guy and try to redicule my post, stop spilling  your venom on everything members posts, enough already, we are trying to have a good time in peace, stop the finger pointing,  hope you understand.

driptip -- kindly relax and re-think about this very misleading post--

usually when some pretender show-off parades their ignorance on this site-

i just let it pass --but THIS one is way too far serious ...

plenty of members like to design and make their own box parts-

it fun and creative and rewarding--

especially with metals --as they are the most durable and attractive, by far

------------------

but this "sure " suggestion that grinding wheels are used on ALUMINUM is preposterous, dangerous and NEEDS correction.

here's the scenario:

the aluminum MELTS immediately onto the wheel

--then the wheel gets WAY off balance

at 30.000 RPM --- it EXPLODES

--all in a quick 20 seconds-

and can KILL people
