still distorts on bass even though iv now done a speaker upgrade!
litfan - 2012-09-23 06:13
You mean the wx-1? IMHO, it doesn`t sound very good. That`s just me. It looks, like it`s gonna blow your socks off, erm.
litfan - 2012-09-23 06:37
Here`s an old one of me, and, my two pals mr wx-1, and mr gf999.
stereo.mad - 2012-09-23 07:13
yer that's what i thought!.... a big let down but looks good
nice pic litfan
redbenjoe - 2012-09-23 07:23
the output must surely depend on the condition of the woofs and radiator
pathways and etc etc -
mine sounds huge & clean & scary loud -
easily blows away the c100f -
more like the great sony FH5

davebush - 2012-09-23 07:53

litfan - 2012-09-23 07:54

stereo.mad - 2012-09-23 07:58

litfan - 2012-09-23 08:01
Have you actually got one? They don`t sound too bad. The look, just doesn`t do it justice.
litfan - 2012-09-23 08:04
Ah. I see, it hasn`t got the original speakers. The one`s in mine, had been VARNISHED. I got some nice, black car speakers, that had the same fitting. Sounded nice, but, weighed a ton.
litfan - 2012-09-23 08:09
These are the ones i put in mine.
radio.raheem - 2012-09-23 08:11
i had 2...one with original woofers and one with the same woofers that litfan had in his.....they sounded ok (but you would have thought it would have been better for it's size)....just to big and heavy for me at the end of the day
stereo.mad - 2012-09-23 08:15
iv tried various speakers in the unit lit but still sounds pants....
or maybe im expecting to much out of it against some of my other boxes
deliverance - 2012-09-23 08:30
tbh boxes only have small amp"s , changing speakers with more modern ones will improve performance but you can"t expect 30 year old amps to deliver without beefing them up with bigger transformers , caps , ect keep pushing old amps and they will give up also impedance of speakers is important as well , you want quality put your hi fi on just my two peneth .
litfan - 2012-09-23 08:34
Yeah. I tried god knows how many speakers in my wx-1. The best, believe it or not, were the drivers out of a scrap pioneer sk909. They just looked daft though, because of the colour. Never thought about painting em black.
radio.raheem - 2012-09-23 08:40
they were ok but if you used both bass sliders just didn't sound wright....used to put the left bass slider on full and the other just under half...then it sounded OK
litfan - 2012-09-23 08:44
Did you try 909 speakers in yours lad?
radio.raheem - 2012-09-23 08:49
wish i had lad ....i have a few pairs of them somewhere.....i tried a pair in a pc55 and in my other 3 piece tosh....they just sounded pants in those lad....
here is a laugh rich.. i connected a 909 speaker to one of the subs on my kaboom to try and blow the speaker for a laugh....it farted a bit lad but she took the force of the kaboom flat out for 5 mins hehe
litfan - 2012-09-23 08:57
I used to like doing stuff like that, ever since i was a kid. I remember, swapping all the valves round, on our old alba radiogram, thinking, it would work. It did, BANG. I looked like one of the black & white minstrels. I could have started singing "mammy" .

radio.raheem - 2012-09-23 09:06
always been like that bro......started taking things to bits as a kid...never stopped.......remember taking my mums antique watch to bits as a kid (one of those that you didn't need to wind) totally bust it.....hid it in my mums stables thinking she would never find it....i had a bollocking when she did haha
litfan - 2012-09-23 09:09
You didn`t try that trick, where ya wrap a watch in a hanky, then smash it with a hammer? Never works. The trick i mean.
litfan - 2012-09-23 09:11

the boombeat 1 is a replica, upside down and on a bigger scale, of the rt-8710s that andyboombox exhibited at the summer meetup. but appearances are deceiving: whereas that one is a blaster, the bb1 is a box for the eyes not for the ears
