I strongly recommend to end this thread immediately, as ebay seller set their prices according to our opinions. Moreover:
1. So-called rare items often turn out not to be so rare at all. In my experience, it's lack of availability of certain items in certain places that makes them rare. A notion more often than not associated with location, rather than with paucity.
2. Sought-after boxes have to do with cult status, highly subjective and definitely cultural So, they cost a fortune even if they are available almost everywhere.
3. Fine boxes, once identified as such, immediately fall within the former or the latter category. That's why I know some, but I'll name none

Hey there beatboy1970 great year,1970 i was born dec 21 actually so i dig it.The cool thing about collecting these boomer's is this comes down to what u think is suitable for u the holy grail's will be a steep investment but again up to the individual and their cash flow.to me i go after the one's i remember from my childhood an basically the ones that dont break the bank.......good luck as it's a great feeling an honour when u own one that really matter's for u.

Hi all, we have a vz 2000 in lovely condition with all new belts fitted, we just want to know how much it is worth and if we kept it for another 10 years what would the value be them? Cheers

Condition and functionality is everything with the VZ...if it doesn't work fully then they're not always worth much...my ebay one cost me £30, though of course it all works now
If they're in good condition, everything works, and it has all its sliders then on a good day it can be worth a reasonable sum on ebay if there's enough people after one...but stick it on too high and no one will bite...its worth whatever someone is willing to pay on the day which can vary massively
In ten years time who has a clue?!...could be worth a fortune or zip...we can't even give an accurate estimate for next week never mind in 10 years time. Might be worth more as they become rarer or the market might die out as all us 80's kids start drawing our pensions and give up the hobby lol
nickfish - 2013-08-21 08:50
That's a good point. My collection was going to be my pension!!
Seriously though, and in keeping with the original thread; I have a problem....
Last night I popped over to see the girlfriend and as expected she was in the kitchen doing some ironing. She was listening to a very small JVC cd portable that made the most hideous noises; like someone wearing headphones turned up too loud! I said " I will sort you something out that does not sound like shit" and suggested a Panasonic FW32L that i have which has the tape not working. (no need for tapes!)
She then surprised me by saying that she wanted to listen to CD's on it.
Now I know that with some cables I could plug in a cd player or MP3 player to the Panasonic, but who really wants that sort of fuss, in the kitchen?
My question to my friends out there is this...
Has there ever been a decent sounding, compact CD radio portable?
If anyone suggests a Bose Wave Radio I will probably throw up.
Thanks
danielle - 2013-08-21 09:01
Im so sorry what have I caused, I only wanted to know how much they are worth. lol
I don't think there is any decent sounding portable cd,mp3s, ipods or any other portable out there they are making these days lol
nickfish - 2013-08-21 09:08
Danielle,
You have not caused anything! This is what we do here; we discuss things.
Values are a thorny issue because of two things..
Firstly values are a hugely subjective thing and at the end of the day something is worth whatever someone is prepared to pay for it.
Secondly, this site and it's members are often used to benchmark values just so that visitors can sell their items on Ebay for more money; hype is often caused here that inflates values.
I would ask you what it is worth to you? If it's not much, give it to someone that will appreciate it more. If it's a lot; keep it and enjoy it, look after it and treasure it.
Not everything is about money.
northerner - 2013-08-21 09:21

yeh as Nick says you've not caused anything, you asked a perfectly reasonable question...its just values vary soooooo much its nigh on impossible to come up with an accurate one other than its worth what someone is willing to pay on the day its up for sale lol And if we say its worth £100 someone will stick one on ebay the next day for £110 lol
danielle - 2013-08-21 10:07
We are not looking to sell, we are looking to pass these onto our kidz and let the new generation see and enjoy the 80s feel, like we did, maybe we should start putting our prices up more on the ghetto blasters, coz I think they are worth more than the new generation stereo and like you said they are getting older and older. At the end of the day its us who own them, the rich people do that with their classic cars so why cant we do it with our ghetto blasters, I reckon anything that was made in the 80s should be worth anything £500 to £1000 depending on the quality and condition of the item.

panasonic dt680 sounds better than the m90 but not quite as loud...has twin tape cd and remote....only prob you cant use your ipod unless you run it through one of those wireless things on the radio
radio.raheem - 2013-08-21 11:07
failing that this one....sounds about the same as an m70 but speakers will need refoming and you need to find one with a working cd
nickfish - 2013-08-21 11:38
Mmm. Thanks Reno.
It's going to have to be quite large then.
