It finally broke
Time to take to a Technician
bad power switch - Need to trace the power through the unit, for starter's

Lost rail, more likely cause by a failed regulator, or fuse more likely

I got one sitting around that is up for grabs if you want it (if the tech repairs is too dear).... It just does not have the speakers nor the handle.
Later!

Hey,
I am in France...
I used to use it as a amp and tape-deck for my HiFi system... it worked great, but that was 6 years ago... So, now you would need to change the belts of the tape deck and, most likely, contact cleaner for the volume control and stuff.
It is yours if you are not to afraid of the shipping... Where are you, Canada, US, UK... Australia???
Let me know!
Later!

Do you have a copy of the service manual, Dannyboy? It shouldn't be hard to trace the power/ fuse circuits...

Mine was acting goofy like that. For me as nutty as this might sound, the power button and controls were all dirty! It wasnt letting full power get to everything, like it was partly on kind of thing.

it sounds like a power supply issue...
the psu is usually seperate in these sort of units & pretty straightforward too!
can you post us any pics of the psu at all?
