whats your thoughts guys....

andyboombox - 2013-01-21 02:30

so ive got a philips d8444 and a d8614.im THINKING of parting with them both, for one box.i would be open to ideas on what you chaps think i could get hold of,but,if i did decide to trade, ideally im looking into the following....

hitachi 8600

aiwa 950

panasonic 5250/5600/5500

sharp gf9595/9292/9191 or 9090 at a push

sanyo m9990/9998/9996

philips elephant

and a whole host of others that i cant remember right now....i would want them to go together,so the one box in trade would be better than just a one on one trade

i wouldnt be posting these either due to shipping costs,we would have to have a meet to do a trade.

but as i say guys theres nothing set in stone yet.....thats why this post is here and not in the for sale/trade section

just fishing for ideas/what people have got

the 8614:

radio works, speakers both work, tape works but has a constant motor running, cabinet needs a little paint

the d8444:

good condition but not mint, tape works but slightly slow, radio and all speakers are fine

i wouldnt be looking for a minter, would prefer something with a working deck but not essential.

just ideas for now please gang

how many times have you had the above listed boxes Andy lol, your quiet hard to believe sometimes

andyboombox - 2013-01-21 05:12

well bro ive only really had the sanyo 9990 in the past,an hitachi 8600 and a few gf9090s.....oh you mean the philips ones....silly me

bison - 2013-01-21 05:29

sling em on ebay andy you might get enough for something out of it 8444s get money

even though theyre crap

andyboombox - 2013-01-21 05:53

dont have anyone i know who does ebay for me buddyill hang on and wait and see if there are any offers out there

ground.control - 2013-01-21 14:59

Seems like youve got the makings of two good boxes there andy why not give them a bit of love /refurb and enjoy them

northerner - 2013-01-22 08:26

Well no one can have the D8444 as its on its way to me

andyboombox - 2013-01-23 02:30

well,as my bro si confirms, the d8444 is going to him,and ive already started tidying up the 8614's paintwork so it looks like im keeping that one now unless someone offers something else

andyboombox - 2013-01-23 02:56

anybody near me with a rough,or tatty gf9090 and the d8614 is yours

nickfish - 2013-01-23 04:38

Andy,

You have only had the D8614 (You got it from Lav Loo, right?) for about 10 minutes! Do you not like it or something? Have i been doing this all wrong by buying, using and keeping the boxes I have been buying?

Nick

deliverance - 2013-01-23 04:41

thats andys way nick he never has them long

northerner - 2013-01-23 04:47

Nick - you'll get used to Andy, he rarely keeps any box for long. I think the record is about 10 minutes at the UK meet where I traded a box with him and a few minutes later he'd traded the box I gave him with someone else

He does love a trade! But he's a good guy and we all collect in different ways

andyboombox - 2013-01-23 05:20

thats the andy tandy way loltrying to stop myself though....trouble for me guys is this....i cant afford to ADD boxes to my collection ie by financial payment,so when a good box comes up i have one chance but to TRADE only,so im never able to add on to what i have because i have to bloody lose one to get oneif i had enough greenback id be multiplying my collection not trading only, but, like a few other members on here im just not in the position to pay crappy ebay overinflated prices for boxes,or indeed,as a couple of brothers know already,80 quid in a second hand shop for a toshiba rt 120....i still split my sides with laughter the other day when i went in there and i was offered it,for 40 pound half priceas if someone would seriously pay even that for one of those piles of trash!!!!i told them knock the zero off and we might be getting warmneedless to say i didnt hang around long

so there you are my friends, trade is the only way forward for me,perhaps one day ill start buying them again

nickfish - 2013-01-23 05:56

Hang on there a minute!

I like the Toshiba's RT120s and I bought a perfect one the other day for £2.40 off ebay!

You would have to admit that they are definitely worth a punt for that much!

andyboombox - 2013-01-23 06:26

now that toshy is better andy, featuring the mqjs music search,so getting coolerand nick fish mate,i once had an aiwa 935 off ebay for £2 and trust me,theres no comparison with the 120!but the days of getting something decent off ebay for sub twenty quid are long gone....add to that a gf8585 for 99p once toojust look and compare that to the at least 2 8585's that are currently on there, and then i rest my case

plenty of people out there that struggle to put a good listing together on ebay,

thats when you can find a bargain
