Just wanted to introduce myself since im new and have a clairtone boombox that I would like to restore. I am a dj, electronics technician. I have no idea where to get the parts for this monster. My friend owned it since new, and I have had it for 2 years.

Welcome Christopher, Where abouts in the world are you located...?

I ask because sometimes local members will be a better asset for parts.

Welcome Chris

If you're an electronics man you should have no problem fixing that stunning box

Hi Chris & welcome to s2g.

The Clairtone looks good - hope you can fix it up.

You're based in the UK, yes? Plenty of us boombox types from the UK here...

Im from Nova Scotia, Canada. Im actually lobster fishing right now...It still works well, but aesthetically id like to fix a the silver a bit..the connections are scratchy, has a lot of noise always. Tape decks are flawed, the little light for the tape to go around doesnt work properly. A schematic would be great,  has anyone on this site ever restored one? Would be great to know what to expect.

Hi and welcome crk
Well I'm not massively technical minded but iv fully restored one of my conions and had it fully stripped down into a thousand bit and had no trouble putted it back together again, personally I think there fairly easy to work on

Hey Christopher! A fellow Canuck (I'm from Toronto).

I'd start by disassembling the box and spraying De-Oxit on the switches...works wonders. The schematics are rare, and hard to find unfortunately but perhaps someone might have a  clue as to what's happening with your box..

Wow, people from everywhere on here didnt expect nova scotian roots. Awesome. I live on the south shore of nova scotia, limited supplies for electronics. I only have hardware stores like home hardware, kents building supplies. Where could i purchase de oxit? Thanks for the greetings

brutus442 - 2013-01-29 10:33

Hi Christopher.

I'm not sure about Nova Scotia but here in Ontario, I bought mine from Sayal Electronics

http://www.sayal.com/zinc/zinc_SEARCH.asp?txtSEARCH=de-oxit&x=0&y=0

Not sure if they ship anything...but worth a try. It's GREAT stuff!! Recommended to me buy a few UK'ers here and I was sold after doing my M90

****Correction they do ship worldwide***********
