Lately its been Quality sound over volume.  My Panasonic RX-DS650.  Awesome REAL bass and the tuned port is actually around the tweeter so you feel air pushing hard out of tweeter. Kept a clean looking speaker front.  Nice touch Panny.

And next to my bed at night is the Hitachi TRK-6700H which was lucky lately to find a second one in the common Titanium color for $27 USD shipped.. Work perfect just decks both need belts but use Walkman line in ;-) of course !  At lower volume levels the bass and especially the mids/highs are fantastic on these.  Nice feature the Loudness switch and separate bass/treble.

cranking this one today,the first time in ages as its normally wedged in the corner on show,i reckon it's got to be one of the best black boxes out there

i agree they are top,

its perhaps aswell they are cheaply made plastic things because if it was built like an m70 you wouldnt be able to carry it.

what's the story with it,is it one you found in the wild?

i picked it up from a boat yard it was obviously the yards radio housed in a big repair shop almost exposed to the elements,it was humming bad with a dead deck,got it off ebay lee,just need a replacemement switch and its all there

this is today's choice,a great looking box and great sound but has a slight issue,it has more bass on one channel than the other but still sounds good,maybe del can work his magic on it one day lol

ive been using this since i fixed it,it had suffered major internal damage at the hands of the postal service and the top deck was broke off and inside the case...seven plastic welds later and here she is minus the deck door spring but good to go and with surprisingly good sound for a bling box

glad ya sorted it Andy, atleast it went to a member who could sort it, if it would of stayed with me it would of been like that forever well done mate she is a beauty
