Toshiba Bombeat X-01 RT-S933
walkman.archive - 2013-03-18 02:49
Hi there,
I've seen this boombox, and looks nice. I've seen also that the Bombeat 40 is one of the most desired models, which is also a RT-S933, but they don't look the same.
Why both models (X-01 and 40) are the same S933? What are the differences between them?
Last but not least, how much can a X-01 go at ebay?

Thanks for the info.
So, may I suppose that the X-01 can be the top model, even ahead of the BB40?

Owning most top-of-the-line Toshibas (RT-S93, RT-S90, RT-S913 (BB40)), I have to say nope.
Given that the X-01 is essentially the same unit as the RT-S93 with a fre different details, I can confrim that it is definitely a feature packed radio BUT more of a rish people's toy than a good sounding boombox. The sound is decent but the M70 beats it any day.
That being said, I would name the RT-S90 as Toshiba's best one-piecer (quality wise!). With its metal covered front and the full logic tape deck (not to mention the great green lights) it easily makes the number one on the list and was probably the most expensive Toshiba one piecer ever released.
However, when it comes to sound quality, the BB30 takes the cake. For you guys who own an S90 - haven't you always wished it had 20 cm speakers to unfold its whole potential? Well, that is essentially what the BB40 does.
Not only does the 3-way 6-speaker system have very clear treble but the bass goes insanely low on these models. While it surely cannot match the famous M90 when it comes to pure power output, I would in fact say that it ties with its bass at least.
So, which one is THE best Toshiba boombox ever made? Probably the WX-1.
For those of us who only like one piecers (like me), I can recommend the S90. It's available once in a while and really gives you the sound for your buck.
If you are lucky enough to catch a BB40, congratulations! You have reached the peak of Toshiba one-piece boombox sound quality!

Interesting review for Toshibas top of the
range models.

It's just my personal opinion .
Others claim that the S90 or the BB40 sound even better than the M90 and others again call the S90 a POS.
I guess it all comes down to personal preferences.

Very intesresting, mmcodomino. Thanks for the info.
I found a photo of it in the internet. I compared to another photo of the S93 and found that the X01 has two or three buttons more.
Rather than the sound quality, that I believe won't be like a HIFI, I was curious about their value in the market, specially boxed and new.
I saw an auction of a BB40 that ended at a whopping 1420 euros! (see next link)

Is that a real value of these models?
