As mentioned by docs, the range is quite wide. Thanks for replying.

Hi all,

I'm new here and I'd like to have your opinions about my new delivered boombox National Rx-5400.

It has some scratches, two knobs (volume and band selector) are missing. But everything is working fine. I'm just curious about how rare that box is and how much (for given conditions) it would worth.

Thanks and Regards,

Le.

Hi Guys,

I have a Toshiba RT-8150S boombox. I'm not really sure if she works or not, because she doesnt have a antenna. I put a casseste in and it sounds great! Anybody have an idea on what she could be worth?

Honestly, if it's really tidy and only missing the antenna, it's probably only worth about £20. Maybe £40 when perfect.

Hi folks, I've been out of the game for quite a while now, i cant remember the last time I posted on here, still love old box's but no longer have the room for them, I have kept one or two though   Anyway.. I pulled these from the loft to raise a bit more cash toward an upcoming holiday with the family, do you think I've priced them right?  What are my chances of selling them with collection only, I really don't want the hassle of packaging them.

Rich, difficult to price as a threesome but you'd do a lot, lot better if sold separately, £50 each I'd say, maybe more for the Sharp

richuk - 2014-07-11 05:19

Thanks for the input, ordinarily I wouldn't have listed them as a group but I figured as it's collection only potential buyers would be more inclined to travel for 3 than just for the 1 box.  I know I'm going to lose some on these by grouping them and not posting but I just want them gone the easiest way possible, I've posted them in the past and drives me nuts as I'm a little anal when it comes to packaging things so it takes me an age to package just one let alone 3 of them.

nickfish - 2014-07-11 07:57

Not much to add other than to point out that your ebay listing has the word 'rare' at the end of the title. These machines are far from rare. Good luck anyway.

richuk - 2014-07-11 08:36

I know they're not rare, it's just a keyword to pull in the views, I had a few characters left in the title so thought I might as well throw in rare

Hi,

I was looking for information about one boombox I have and I found the forum. Great Job, congratulations!

I have a sony CFD D-77 for sale but I have no idea what the price would be the correct one.

Everything is working fine and is in very good used condition.

Thanks fpr your help!

I recently purchased a boombox at an auction. I have spent several hours trying to research it, but am unable to find anything. There are no images ANYWHERE. I was hoping for some help. The only thing that I am sure of is that it was made by Sigmatech.

HI guys and gals, interesting forum this and i will be staying on here and reading/following the topics. i have to be honest i am not really a boombox aficionado..i,m more a hi fi man....and primarily i have signed up to try and sell a recent find. i had no idea about "grails" or any of this stuff and i was recently clearing a site when i came across (in my own words) a proper retro 80's ghetto blaster complete with lots of knobs and switches! ... the plan was to keep it, clean it up and just have it as a cool prop. once home and with a fig 8 lead plugged in..it fired up! and works fine! ...all good thinks me i can use it in the workshop, then i started to research the model and realised i had stumbled upon something sought after and collectable. so i have signed up here with a view to selling it on to a new home where it will be loved and appreciated for what it is. it will clean up mint save for maybe the alloy plate on the top of the fascia as this seems to have pitted a bit...it was in a motorhome that was buried in brambles and the like...i,m guessing thats been its home its whole life as apart from 30 plus years of general dust and grime being on the top of it..its all straight and true.

so what is it? ... its a grail....its a sanyo mx-920k

i have no idea what its worth in the condition it is...ive not cleaned it up or anything yet as that was the plan but i will. what i do know is that its worth a lot more than i thought (i was expecting it to be about 50 quid!)

thanks for reading and as i say...if anyone wants to make me an offer this box is for sale and i,m not greedy either so im not expecting silly money as far as i,m concerned it owes me nothing so its a nice windfall if it sells...it isnt spotless but its all there and works.

Eh.....just some advice, you might want to clean it up before posting photos.  Otherwise it's hard to tell what's dirt and what's permanent damage.

Hey guys, I've sadly got nowhere to keep my ghetto blaster collection so wondering if anyone has any idea what a collection like this might be worth. I'm planning to try and test them to see what's working but fairly sure most of them work. Cheers
