Hey there. Who has a boom for sale that is under 100 quid? I like the look of the gf9090s and above. Interested in any options though. Just need to stop listening to music on my computer. Ughh

Or you could get a hitachi 3D of eBay. Never pay more than £50 for a good model fully working...

3D30 - absolutely. Get one with one or two 6½" woofers & you'll not go too far wrong.
LL get that 3D, if for no other reason than to forward it on to moonpaste

Hey guys thanks for the advice. I got a 555 cos it was so cheap. It seems good but i have nothing to compare it too.
There is no way i could crank it full bore because it just sounds shit. but can get it to a loud enough level.
+++ stereo mad how would you compare the 9797 to the 555 on a scale of one to 10? i could be keen in a few weeks.
+++Also to dave the same question about the aiwa
Thanks for your help guys, i think i have caught a bug the only problem is i am travelling so can only take one. The 555 is gonna give me massive guns. Its a tank.

If you want something compact, not too heavy, inexpensive and with a tremendous bang for your buck I have to say the Philips D8614 would take a hell of a lot of beating.
Machines like the GF555 just do not reward you for lugging them about and when you use them they are all mouth and no trousers so if you have to have just one, I would go for the Philips.
If, however you need it to look more like the archetypical boombox then it would have to be a Sharp GF9191 or 9292. They sound good and won't break the bank; also well made and should be able to handle a few knocks. The cheaper-still GF8585 is smaller but still sounds better than a 555!
If anyone else can suggest better all-rounders for the money I would be surprised. Any of them would sound better than ANY ipod dock selling for less than £250!

w/ Nickfish - Aggreed for in the UK
I have to say the Philips D8614 is your best bet over there
lav.loo - 2013-04-08 11:11
well i would'nt be the same old lav if i did'nt jump in on every chance to big my grail up Nickfish and Traveler are bang on here, the PHILIPS D8614 STEREO SOUND MACHINE is in my opinion the best mid size box ever it really does sound something else for it's build and size.
here's a few of pics of my beautiful ex
i'm defo on the look out for another at the right price
