Freshening up my M90...

mellymelsr - 2013-04-13 14:14

2 years ago I did a respray and tweeter upgrade on my M90 with great results. It certainly looked better after the respray and sounded a little crisper after the tweeter upgrade. Down side was the new tweeters were all black with black dust caps, the original woofers had some sun fade as well as the VU meters.

I decided to rectify all those issues. I took apart the VU meters and retraced all the faded lines with a bright red permanent marker. I resprayed the woofers and tweeters with Dupont medium blue fabric spray. I then installed new chrome dust caps on the tweeters and now this M90 is a "10" once again. Here are some before and after pics...

BEFORE...............

Here are the old faded tweeters next to the upgraded black ones.

AFTER..................

Freshly painted woofers and tweeters!!

Refreshed M90 with bright red VU's and deep blue woofers and tweeters!!

Hey mellymelsr,

A great looking result. How did you replace the dust caps? Was it a straight transplant or did the new ones just affix over the top of the old ones?

Thanks Ira...after seeing this done by so many others including yourself I decided to give it a try.

I found some old Sony shelf speakers and the dust caps fit perfectly so I affixed them over the top using rubber cement.

Looks beautiful and the red vu's really pop.

Do you have before and after pics of the VU's. And that must have been a very small tip on that marker?
