They died so that others might live...

My first experience of discarding boomboxes...
- All 3 had issues, beyond my ability to fix: dead amps, cracking woofers, FM not working, etc.
- All 3 had given parts to keep others fully working: speakers, antennas, battery covers, handles, sliders, tape doors, etc.
Even so, it didn't feel right taking them to the dump.
A moments silence for a 3D2, a 3D50 & a MS-W600, who died so that others might live.
...I may have overdone it a bit with the emotion

good that you saved a few --
but sadly --those 3 trashed boxes may have had 100 plus valuable parts
to save others -
however --most or none of us have the spare space to store parts boxes
for some vague and distant future needs

That's the triple truth, Ruth...

Don't feel bad, Paul. It sounds like they were past it anyway, as even a collector of such items deemed them dump-worthy. They no doubt lasted longer than they would've done, had they been owned by a non-collector, someone who just wants a working radio. And as you highlighted, parts of them were saved to restore other ones. So it's all good.
