What is surprising is how close to the standard boombox format it is for such an early unit. I had a look for when Philips first made a Radio Cassette and found that although they beat Crown by two years they came up with a bizarre looking mono unit (4th picture down).

The words "Solid State" near the handle date the Crown. In 1968 products like TVs were still using valves / tubes.
