went to Use my Aiwa TPR 968 for the first time in a while, the radio is working fine but when I plugged my mp3 player through the line in, no sound, nothing! Strangley the neddles on the VU meters are still jumping about, so there must be a signal, right? I've opened it up and checked the conections are not loose and everything is clean but now I'm stumpted! any ideas please?

Press play on deck perhaps ? have you used it before without needing other functions enabled ?

haha! I would look a moron if that was the problem! thanks Lav!
Docs, the tape deck has never worked, not sure why as its the same problem, plays but no sound! I have had it working without having to push play on cassette.

What happens if you wiggle the function switch while playing something ?
smeats1976 - 2013-06-23 12:43
I'll give that a try Docs! The box is at my dads garage workshop bench at the moment.

I should try cleaning the function switch shouldn't I?
docs - 2013-06-23 12:55
See if it brings audio when wiggled, if not then it's probably ok for now.

Try wiggling all switches, you need to eliminate those. Try headphones too, see if you get anything through those.

wiggle wiggle!!!!i hope you get it sorted mate, its a cracking box to own and i can only concurr with what the guys are saying-function switch problems
smeats1976 - 2013-06-24 10:18
YIIIIPPPPEEE its working again! Powered up and hit play on my mp3 player and started to wiggle the function switch, nothing, hit play on cassette deck, nothing, started to wiggle all the switches one at a time see as suggested by Docs and suddenly it burst back to life! I sprayed with a little switch cleaner and worked the switch back and forth about 100 times and now it works perfect!
Strange how lack of use can cause these problems in old electronics! Anyway just wanted to let Docs know its fixed and say thanks for his help! Cheers Docs!

this is why I prefer boxes with controls upfront and not on top, less crap can get inside the controls. glad you sorted it smeats nice one
