stereo.mad - 2013-07-28 02:39
ok i would say mine is toshiba......i have most of the high end ones and think they are very well made, stylish and sound quality......
although i do like my nationals as well
pics if you can please
lav.loo - 2013-07-28 02:45
I like quiet a few tbh Lee, but firstly it would be Philips due to the sound quality and a few other factors, followed by Panasonic and pioneer so all the peeeeeeees for me mate gotta say I do like the obscure Korean and Taiwanese brands though
mmcodomino - 2013-07-28 03:49
National / Panasonic was the real deal. Those models are on the edge to HiFi imo.

For me, it's got to be Toshiba. I love the fact that Pioneer had their own way of doing things and almost every machine they made was quirky and tore the rule book up but Toshiba made more advances; they pushed the boundaries, and as an engineer this appeals to me most. Sure they made some low end rubbish but the most sought after machines today are the most revered ones from the 80's. Who would not kill for a Bombeat 40? Who can believe the wireless remote control? I love Aiwa and Sanyo too, but only Toshiba's get me going. No contest.
bison - 2013-07-28 07:16
i would say toshiba too but im a big sanyo and pioneer fan, i havent got any high end tosh units though but seeing Docs`s toshibas at the meet was enough for me to see they are a cut above.
mitchelljames - 2013-07-28 07:21
The company with the most boxes which i like must be Aiwa.
990,950,880,770,660,600,500 + some cracking 3 piecers like the CA100.
They even made some stunning looking walkmans
soundboy - 2013-07-28 07:24
this might come as a shock but the jvc m90 and m70 has been my boombox of choice yet im thankful for my prosonic and telefunken aslo my magnasonic trubo so... yah its a tuff choice no-dout !
aestereo - 2013-07-28 07:50
I will vote for National Panasonic.
The longest life for any cassette deck. Easiest cassette decks to maintain, when the time comes to change the belt.
And they have made some top boxes of all times.
radio.raheem - 2013-07-28 09:02
To many to chose from...but my vote would go with jvc since the dp200 knocks any other box out the ring and you have the jvc pc55 and m90...plus i grew up with mainly jvc

litfan - 2013-07-28 09:41

Sorry hugo, but, in my eyes, not a boombox. It`s something a mobile dj would use.

I know it's a yawner but I'm with Reno on the JVC front. Purely because the 550 was my first purchase and it had every feature imaginable. Pure nostalgia.
It should be noted that Pioneer is a VERY close second IMHO
