There are many pictures all over this forum to help you decide the kind of looks you like. As an entry box you want to be looking at a Philips d8614, Sharp 9191 or a Aiwa 950 or some thing along those lines. Those all offer great sound quality and are not overly expensive. my 2p.

It will be worth to look for a boombox with Bass & Treble controls plus loudness button, than having a single Tone control. Also look for proper Line-in function for playing from any media player.

welcome will83, i guess it all depends on how much you are willing to pay, the good ones can vary from 180 to 400 dollars.

exactltly what the grand master ie dave docs has said-thats what you want to look for,plus maybee try a gf8989 as these are also great starter boxes
