This is now my project box for modding Si! It was a bit manky and only £15 so nobody can accuse me of vandalising a grail I suspected it was common as mook!

i have one,it has been banished to the loft..maybe i should put it on the bay

Ive got a cheap Hitachi so i painted it, and its still in the loft

 it was the first box i bought off the bay and its a little looker and a minter..that said the auction made it look like an m90,i opened the box and was like... is that it!...

they should all be banished to your lofts boys.....do it.....do it now

there was definately a moment in the eighties in the far east when somebody said "fuck the quality these people will buy anything"

i have to disagree with the loft theory, at least for certain Hitachis. they may be slightly inferior to other brands, but they're by no means trash boxes. mines, for instance, are all strongly built and sound great, so either they are exceptionally well preserved or i have all the Hitachis that matter (not really as i wish i had the lovely 8280 Perdisco, so elegant!)

built like a tank and excellent for quality and loudness of sound is the massive TRK 9140E. then there's my black beauty, the TRK 8080E. it is by no means my best midsize box, but it has a very clear voice, and the loudness button adds egregiously to what is missing in the bass department. and how about the lovely TRK 8600? would you really put such a beaut in your loft?

i have all the hitachis worth having samovar including the 8600,i think the point of the above comments was the lower spec models they brought out in abundance...

i know. actually my post addressed more tranchant commentaries than yours, suggesting that all Hitachis should be banned in a loft. btw this is the one i covet --unfortunately much rarer than the TRK 7800H:
