Whats Your Favourite Mini?

seb968 - 2013-11-06 12:31

Mini's; some people love them, some hate them and some are not bothered either way! I thought it would be good to see what peoples opinions are on these ultra portable and often cute little machines. I’d love to know which are rated; which not rated; which are loved and which are loathed!

Mini's

Got three favorite minis Panasonic rx-f32ls, Sony wa-6000 and Sanyo M7700. The Sanyo is the cutest

seb968 - 2013-11-06 13:41

Thanks Michiel, I've googled them and they all look good, the slimline Sanyo with it's moving coil meter, the Panasonic that looks like it means bussines with those double drivers, and as for the Sony, very nice!  I would happily have all of these in my collection!

I'm liking the Panasonic RX Bison  Dolby system and music search are indeed nice features for a mini. Great stuff.

Yes Si; have to say I'm realy liking the look of these Sanyo mini's; I find the 7780 and 7900 are particularly good looking

northerner - 2013-11-06 15:08

Aye I've seen a few minis but the only ones I've kept are Sanyos, my absolute fave being the 7900 its just so gorgeous. The 7780 is a great shade of blue and is very slim, still weighs a lot for its size tho. The 7870 has a clear case painted red on the inside...looks soooo shiny

seb968 - 2013-11-06 15:13

A clear case painted on the inside sounds most unusual! Good idea, it protects the paint from scratches and possibly from fading as well! I wonder if it would look cool if they left it clear? Suppose it depends on how tidy the box is on the inside!

My favourite mini has to be the Sharp GF8. I bought one years ago in the early 80's and still have it now!

eddie - 2013-11-06 22:18

Hi, I have two of the Sanyo M7900K ( one for parts / just in case ) Love the look and sound of these units. The 7900`s look like a big box shrunk down. Love the blue speakers.

Hey Ira, how's things?

I always wanted this Aiwa - because it has the same layout as most of the Hitachi 3Ds.

Along with this Philips/Magnavox D8347 (Cubooster), but both have had some porr reviews for sound...

Anyway, favourite minis?

Surely, it has to be the sony ZX-7 or the Sansui FX-700R:

Nice to hear that it has served you so well. I have allways liked the look of the GF-8, it is unusual and sports an advanced feature set. Cool tape loading too!

Yes I like the look of these too; they crop up on ebay from time to time.....

Funny When guests are over how they gravitate to this one though I have larger ones too. Have you seen a Eaton Viking? I did a image search and it looks similar to the Sanyo M7900, but with a protection bar on bottom. It looks about the same. May be slightly larger not sure. Looks cool though.

I have not heard of an Eaton Viking before so thanks for that!  They do look very similar; many of the controls are in the same position so I'm thinking they are bult round the same chassis. Very interesting, nice one mate!

northerner - 2013-11-07 08:18

How cool!...in searching for the above photo (its from a professional photographers site as I've not seen my day in 30 years) I found this seemingly started by one of my brothers a couple of years ago

seb968 - 2013-11-07 08:23

Yeah, I crashed my old mini a couple of times! (But I didn't have the excuse that I was trying to win a race, just bad luck )

I remember he had this sequence of photos taken by a track photographer where on a corner his steering went and as you barely had to slow down for the corners in the mini he sailed through the corner at high speed across a long bit of grass and then flipped into a ditch...had this on his office wall for years

I know it's a bit off topic but can you remind me of the difference between a Riley Elf and a Woolsey Hornet?
