nevone - 2013-11-10 06:17
This looks like somebody described to them a 777 over the phone. It lacks elegance and the lines are all messed up. It lacks the flow of the original.

tempting offer reno but how fresh is it?
seb968 - 2013-11-10 06:48
It is a horrid cheap looking rip off but maybe it's the beggining of a trend; manufacturers recreating classics from the past. If this sells maybe it will inspire other manufacturers to make better copies. Just imagine being able to buy an M-90 copy that was as good if not better than the original!

You have met my wife then haha
samovar - 2013-11-10 09:37
has it got a turd in it?
yes. the author, Piero Manzoni, was an Italian artist who at that time was exploring the relationship between human production -- with reference to art, industry and the body -- and the inevitable waste that is associated with it. This was a provocative work -- in a way prophetical if you think of the problems industrial societies are presently facing with waste -- which attacked both the sacrality of art and the craze of the market. Too bad that the market is able to digest everything, if also a work like this has become collectable and highly desirable! A cautionary tale for all of us collectors of yesterday's crap...

Went and read a bit about this, Very interesting samovar! I wonder if it was vacuum sealed to keep it as fresh today as the day he crimped it off in 1961 as you say samovar, people will buy any old shit!
deech - 2013-11-10 09:55
bison - 2013-11-10 09:56

retro - 2013-11-10 10:00
samovar - 2013-11-10 10:10
It was! Art is illusion, so if it's good art, the illusion must be good too. It was produced in 90 items, all of them vacuum sealed, so as to mimick industrial production. After all, we like nutella and merENda, don't we?
The very sad thing about the Sotheby's auction is that the item sold for such a prize also because the artist died very young while he was just developing an international reputation. Death is, so to speak, the added value to s*** as far as the market is concerned
samovar - 2013-11-10 10:16
more artist's m****
It's the same as Bison's. But in order to become artwork, s*** needs a name. Here we go: Soundlab SRD-990. Note however that Sotheby's would like best the MRD model
smeats1976 - 2013-11-10 10:32
quite a few 777 clones out there! but do any of them sound ok? I was tempted to buy the steepletone one that bison posted, it was on ebay with a BIN of £80 wich I thought was a bit much to take a gamble on incase it was merde
smeats1976 - 2013-11-10 10:34

bison - 2013-11-10 10:43
samovar - 2013-11-10 11:01
slightly off-topic, but for two reasons. the first is that it looks like a baby-777 clone. the second is the name:
Pate Marconi MRK-365V: more hilarious than "Canary" and with the MR(K) code presently on ebay btw
bison - 2013-11-10 11:09
terrible stereo samovar..but come on does it chirp like a canary
