the Toyota blends the speakers of the VZ2000 with the frame of the VZ2500 very nice indeed! which brand is the second box?

The second one is a Toyota as well I think. These look more like original Sharp machines that have been re-badged to me, ie. AKA's

Radiotone Cordoba 900 (aka of the Steepletone posted by bison)

Where was this knock-off found Retro? I wonder how many other look-a-likes there are floating around?

I could see these things burning my house down after being plugged in

look at this strange beast, the Qualimax GP-7:

the pic comes from an ebay auction I am definitely not adding to my watch list...

That actually looks quite nasty on close inspection; not that any of these replicas look that good! (Except for the Toyota, I quite like that one!)

Bison those are definitely not rip offs...those are made by Sharp....they were badged under the Toyota name for a promotion they had back in the 80s for Toyota...we had a member here from Japan that worked at Sharp at the time and he explained what was that about....very old thread from long ago.....the bottom sharp is a GF-909 of the sharp 777 family ...those two are truly rare grails

I hadn't recognized the 909! Both units looks too good to be true, and under the spell of the turkeys portrayed in this thread, I even thought that the pics had been Photoshopped! In fact, they simply show promotional versions of the real thing.

Thanks for the contribution to the discussion, very helpful and thought-provoking. Indeed, it has just prompted this thread of mine:

Just found this listed on a local site.

The copiers actually had the nerve to copy the sharp logo as well, poorly. Model is "Model GF-7"

Now ain't that just the king of copies?

Despite the shameless lie, I must admit that Sharp 7 (!) is a roguish ironic touch. Perhaps by GF the perps meant Grand Fake?
