I just replaced all belts of my 2500. Tape deck and turntable. Took 2 hours without service manual. Had to do some cleaning because of the liquified belts and capstan roller, but these boxes are easy to work on! Its playing my first Madonna record at the mo! Fascinating to see the turntable do its thing! Cant stop looking at it, so cool!
Congrats with the beautiful 2000! A great looking example!

thanks for your comments,
well guys to be honest, it was shipped to me, i know i was a bit worried but thank god nothing happened to it, cause its super heavy, i would say one of the heaviest boxes out there and it is massive too, the disc came with the machine, i think i got lucky with that.

ash26 - 2013-11-03 20:32
Congrats Hugo. I hope you are able to get the belts coz it is a awesome piece of electronics to see it play. Especially for the time when it came out.
michiel - 2013-11-04 00:53
Drip I used these. Took the easy way and needed all The turntable uses two belts. One flat for the table. On square for the needle.

driptip - 2013-11-04 20:13
thanks guys,
and sure is nice to have the original disc with the unit,
michiel, thank you for the link for belts.
radio raheem, i think that for the size of the unit it could have had more bass, of course we always want more but i think is just fine
cholo1 - 2013-11-05 11:55
Very nice , looks clean also...congrats man lucky you!
driptip - 2013-11-08 10:30
thanks cholo1,

i thought once you remove the 4 screws it should come lose right?
if so the turntable is not coming lose, or does it have an other screw in a hiding place that i cant see? please help!!!!!
deliverance - 2013-11-08 10:36
there are a couple of wiring connectors behind the turntable plus you have to move the deck control panel if memory serves hugo .

driptip - 2013-11-08 10:40
thanks deliverance, but seems that you are talking if i open it from the back side right?
i am only doing this thrue the front door of the unit, like on this video.
deliverance - 2013-11-08 10:50
i see yes do it like the video and the mush off the old belt gets everywhere hugo .
driptip - 2013-11-08 10:58
thanks northerner those instructions and pics are great but i still cant drop my turntable lose. wow i feel bad.
deliverance - 2013-11-08 11:02
it might be caught on the springs that the deck sits on .
docs - 2013-11-08 11:06
As Chris says, for ease you need to remove the two large springs on the underside.

driptip - 2013-11-08 11:20
ok guys it is open now, i cant keep typing cause i am holding the unit with my other hand ,,,,,tho it was not the bottom springs ill tell you what it was later

brutus442 - 2013-11-08 12:57
We'll be waiting for the result after surgery Hugo. Good luck!
michiel - 2013-11-08 13:10
Sounds like its different than the 2500? With that one you first get the complete front housing of and after that you remove the turntable. It's fairly easy.
But dont give up fixing the 2000! It's well worth having it playing records again!
radio.raheem - 2013-11-08 17:44
How are you getting on driptip ehh.....should be done by now as you are the origional MASTER of this forum lad.....by god we go quite a way back hugo....the years fly by my friend
driptip - 2013-11-08 18:04
hi radio raheem, yes its been at least 5 years since i did any mayor cleaning on a box,
i am trying to get the right pics , give me a few mins.
driptip - 2013-11-08 18:10
this pic shows the bottom of the turntable with the massive mess on it looks like the belt fell off in between the turn table and the metal case.
this one here shows the metal case with a bunch of the melted belt on it. NASTY SHIAT, imagine trying to clean either side and getting the tar on your other side of the hand , hahaha it was a nightmare .
the next pic shows the bottom part of the turntable after some cleaning.
this pic shows a better condition of the metal case after some cleaning .
it took me longer because i had to clean my hands every 3 min so i wouldn stain any other parts with the nasty tar.
ok and now for the grand finale, the reason i couldnt lose the turntable is because the unit still had the shipping safety bolt thrue the battery are,
thanks so much guys , for all your fast replies when i was in need of help.
bison - 2013-11-08 18:27
nice box Hugo,i regret swapping my 2000 but i promised myself i would get another,
we are lucky in the uk the 2500 and the 2000 pop up all the time and are great boxes..if you have the space to keep one
driptip - 2013-11-08 18:32
thanks bison, i am in love with my vz right now is playing some new edition from 84.
it is a very impressive unit ( i think ) now that i know how to change the belts i can say i should start looking for a 2500.
bison - 2013-11-08 18:36
i was surprised how much they weigh..got to be the heaviest boxes out there
radio.raheem - 2013-11-08 18:47
