i have taken myself off to the whipping room and am going to give myself a darn good thrashing.

Ha, Shane, don't worry sir.  There's more iPod users around here than they'd care to admit.  I have one, it isn't great but it's what I own, it has 160 gig and I use it for the car, there we go.

Most definitely not offended, all of it taken in good spirit, a bit of banter is good for the soul, if not the stress.

i mainly use mine in the car for convenience but when we have company it's nice to have background music that you can switch on and forget.

anyway I am now unable to sit down for (as my dad would have told me) a week following my darn good thrashing, now where's that cat...

I'd forgotten about is as it was written a few days ago and sat with moderators for approval, got an email as I got out of bed to say it had been released, was going to remove it but then got way laid grouting in the bathroom...

Of course 21 century stuff like iPod is going to get a kicking on a forum dedicated specifically to a previous incarnation of portable audio, but it is what it is, a global success.

Also, with decent mp3s, EQ off & using the 30 pin socket for audio it's really not bad at all.

I'm not ashamed to admit I have several ipods, an iphone and a few other mp3 players as well...vintage audio and modern technology aren't necessarily mutually exclusive areas...I love all ways of listening to music and I'm no audiophile so have no issue with mp3

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves with all of you new digital technology and mp3's. I'm flabbergasted!! Some vintage audio forum!
