M90 vs PS4 !

The M90 I bought from Ebay US arrived today, by the time I bought it, had my US friend ship it to me, then paid a bit of import duty it still stood me in about £1250 so not a bargain by any means.
Also today my new PS4 arrived at work that I had pre ordered all the way back in June.
On arriving home without a moment of hesitation the M90 came out the car first and was carefully unwrapped. I took it out adjusted it to run on 240 volts and anxiously turned it on. These things are always described as working (but that is often not the case), and it had been half the way around the world, and cost a small fortune so I was not to sure what to expect.
Well I am pleased to say that EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING works perfectly... to my great relief. The case is in lovely condition with no scratches, the speakers are perfect and all the track searching stuff is spot on. The tape deck plays faultlessly, I am sooooo pleased. Apart from one tiny dent in a bit of chrome trim it will come up like brand new with just a clean.
The long and the short of it is I have been home now for 2 hours, been listening to tapes and admiring my M90, and not even bothered to get the PS4 out the car yet.
So at least today in my household the 30 year old technology reigns supreme over the less than 30 hour old technology . I am getting addicted to collecting these things.

Congrats, enjoy your M90, the PS4 can wait. Or you can can run audio out from the PS4 to the M90 and enjoy both.

Santa comes early! Congrats you deserve it.
Now ask yourself this question. Will the PS4 still work after 30 years? I bet the 90 will

Well here are the pictures after a careful clean up took all the knobs off and gave them a scrub in soap and water cleaned the rest in pure alcohol to get the dirt off, then went over it all with a two part plastic restorer and cleaner called "Hindsight" http://www.hindsightuk.com/ . That stuff is great as it cleans all the plastic including the clear stuff to a fantastic finish without doing any damage or stripping the colour or chrome off. I have removed the right speaker completely for a clean, but chickened out taking all the guts out to do the left one as it all works and I don't want to push my luck!. So will use some compressed air on that one, but all in all I am really pleased with it and it sounds absolutely fab!. Now I am going to boot the PS4 up..

Looking good glad it arrived in one piece fully working, its always a gamble getting boxes shipped and you weren't playing for small stakes herecongrats on an awsome boomer matey

nice to hear all is well oh be careful with the compressed air the outer part of those cones are paper

Me to. Several good members here have reassured me I can remove and clean these speakers but I don't have the marbles to do it. My 90 is working and I'd be rightly pi$$ed with myself if I pooched it some how.
Fat fingers and delicate 30 year electronics do not make good bedfellows I'm afraid
BTW thaanks for the "Hindsight" tip!

lol when I first had my m90 after speaking with a pro speaker dude he gave me what looked like a type white glue they use for doing repairs I open the box and with a q tip made a thin coat around the paper edge of the cone ! would I recommend this NO I was luck to not have poked through the paper lol

You're right Reno. The connections are easy. I'm worried that I'll breathe the wrong way and send the fusible resistors to boombox heaven..
If you've got any spare "nads" send them my way, so I don't have to rifle through the wife's purse
radio.raheem - 2013-12-01 08:58
Haha....Gonads i like that word...im saying nothing about fusable resistors lol
