Akai boxes.

What are the opinions about Akai boxes? I got one mono. It's well build but sounds awefully bad. Have seen a couple for sale here and they seem to be quit popular

Akai are very fine boxes. High ends sound good, but in my opinion the strong point of classic Akais is their unbeatable look, with elegant and stylish knobs, Panasonic-like reversed radio/tape deck position and a slightly trapezoidal, slanted box shape. lovely but not easy to find (at least for me)

I have 3 akai pj33 lovely boxes.....and i have some akai massive 3 peice in my shed.....as loud as the m90......mono box you say mike.... but what do you expect haha

Akai boxes all seem to be excellent, they're quite rare compared to other models but we've yet to hear bad reports. The later 3-piece boxes aren't great by comparison to their earlier efforts. I have the below mono box somewhere, I can't remember the model number but it's as good as any.
