recently back from a Public Enemy live show (930 club, W.DC, Sat August 14). They prominently feature a large ghettoblaster in their live set. Don't know the name/model. Its large (Conion c100f size), off-color (kinda like the Technisonic TC999), two side-by-side tape decks, 3 way speakers; tweeter in corners, then midrange, and woofer below - all encircled in "chromed" plastic.
Also went to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland back in June, and there's an audio history exhibit featuring a Sears boombox. More of the mid-80s style than the classic look, but I was happy to see boomboxes included in there. There were also a few pictures of NYC kids carrying large blasters.
