Monolithic, Man those shots bring back memories,Thanks for sharing I truly enjoyed these. Was there when it was what we now reminisce.
Talk about nostalgia! Those pictures made me smile. Thanks for sharing some of those cool pics, Mono!
Those are so cool. I'm loving those suede Pumas too. Just like I still sport to this day with the fat laces. Anyone know what type of box is in the 3rd from the bottom, black & white photo? The one that has "Jackpot" in the background, That's a good looking box.

Well, I know one branded version is the ICS STR-5091. That particular box was released with close to a million different brand names.
I know Prosonic released it. Monolithic has two of them. I can't remember which brands he has though.

Fatdog, MONO has the silver Prosonic PQR-9850 and and the other is a Gold International or Sanyei...completely different boxes.
The one in that pic above is also badged as Technisonic...one exactly like it sold not long ago from MA for pretty cheap on e-Bay.

Sure do, man! I made the mistake of scannin' 'em with a higher resolution than I should've which explains why they were takin' so long to scan. You can prolly make wall-size posters with these:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S3V5MREVIf you have problems downloadin' 'em from there, try downloadin' 'em from here:

Damn megadownload cuts out on me before download can complete.

Actually, I own a Trident (same difference):
I do want a Tecsonic to go between the Trident and Prosonic when it's time to add some wall shelves tho. Safe to assume it was the immediate replacement for the 1 deck boxes.

It's very hard to find good old school pics on the internet!
i always loved the trc 931 ,just a sick cool looking box ,there both sweet!
Thanks,
floyd!
you're welcome man ,i layed many a smackdown on dudes with the trc 931 back in the day ,it was great ,i was awed by the size of it alone when they first came out.i wore out that nucleus song jam on it with the trc 931.
I used to do the same thing. I believe that with the right tape, I can take out almost any box with a 931!
Hopefully, I'll get another real soon... The box I have basically doesn't work anymore as of a month ago.
hey mono any idea what the problem may be with the trc 931 ,
unless the circuit boards are fried i think it can be fixed
Name one and it's on the list!
Starting with what went bad first:
1. The top cassette deck died about a year after gettin' it in 1988 (after owning 2 of these, I know they're always the first of the 2 decks to go).
2, The bottom deck died a year or so after that!
3. The tuner died sometime in the 90's!
4. A month ago, one side of the speakers died!
Like I said, it's basically dead which makes it an O.K. parts box right about now.
yeah man thats alot of work ,i think it needs new belts and a new amp chip then it should be ready to rock.

I'm not too worried about it. In a way, I'm kinda hopin' that the new i931 will hurt the square models' bidding prices to the point I can win a fully operational one for about $250-$300.
Then again, I don't know how much it would cost to get the one I have now fixed, but I'm prolly better off puttin' it in the shop. Maybe I can save $100 or more.
cool man i hope you get her going.
i hope our boxes stay popular forever and not just fade away. can you imagine the technology of portable music by the year 2040? by that time the young generation won't know anything like these ever existed.
charlesdickens - 2008-01-21 17:35
Mono fix yours! It's a 1st edition with VU on right, BIG buttons and skinny handle ends!!! You are a member of an elite club maaang!
yeah man fix it
I'm gonna hunt down a shop before the week is over and put it in. When I do, I have a feeling that it's gonna be in there for a very long time. In the meantime, I'll be lookin' for a double on eBay... Just like SINISTER did, it's gonna take 2 boxes to make 1 great box!
