Hi there,
I am just "restoring" my old FH-15R (my first stereo back then) and of course (besides all other common resoldering and relay-contact issues) i have two...
1) radio tuning is a bit "offset" by 0.5, so instead of 93 it has to be 93.5 for perfect reception with stereo muting on. Any ideas?
2) Where can I get belts for the tape deck? I bet they are similar to lots of other sony gear of that time, but I did not find any information on the web now for days...And the little center gear ist broken, that turns the head in case of auto reverse. I will glue it but maybe there is a better solution..
Any tips are appreciated!
Oh: and I found my two old Aiwa "walkmans", J600 and G09, both in red. Does anyone know reliable repair adresses for them?
Regards
Thomas

Any more info on the fh series -Retro....just picked up an fh909...mint boxed from a very good member here....i 'll get into trouble for saying this...but this box is without doubt the best 80's boombox i have ever heard

I don't have anything on the 909 unfortunately, but I still have my 606 from 1990 and it still sounds amazing for it's size.

I often wondered if these square speakers were up to the task but if you say it's the best Reno (knowing your love affair with the m90) then I'll take that to the bank.

Thought it was about time I attempted to show off my machine and set up I use for recording to tapes for playback on various Walkmans.
The FH-7 and matching PS-Q7 turntable were recently refurbished by a gentleman by the name of Stephen Horowitz. The FH-7 was won on Ebay about three years ago and came in the original box and was in mint condition apart from a little ultra-violet discolouration on the rear plastics. I won it for £65 I seem to remember. Nobody was bidding on it except me. Anyway, when I eventually got it out to show my missus, it turned out that the tape deck section was not working fully. The head mechanism would not bring itself up to the tape.
The PS-Q7 is one that I have had since around 1985 when it was bought for me as an Xmas present to match the FH-7 I had at the time. I still have that one but it is very poorly. And also a third machine I bought around fifteen years ago. The PS-Q7 had not been used for over 25 years and didn't work at all and had a terrible foisty smell to it. It wasn't very healthy.
The Technics twin deck I bought around 1994 maybe and was in need of a service as it had not been used regularly since the coming of digital and MP3. Anyway, I gave them all to Mr Horowitz and picked them all up three months later all working nicely again.
So. I do have an audiophile turntable and have recorded some material to tape from it but I like electronic dance music mixes so either stream or download stuff to my PC and then play that back through the Audiolab M-DAC straight into the Technics RS-TR979. Then off to the pub with my Walkman of choice and the new tape.
In this set up, the FH-7 is just being used as a monitoring system while making recordings. Although I do play tapes on it and turn the volume up to about 4 or 5 when the missus goes out and the neighbours are away. The thing is mighty loud. Just how I remember it as a teenager.
I first recorded my tapes using a Sony Pro WM-D6C but it was a bit tired and started to fail. I bought two more over a short period of time but they were faulty too. Doctor Walkman has them at present in Italy making me a good one out of the others but I won't be seeing them for a while he tells me.

Nice setup WB! You even got the PS-Q7 in matching colors. I have a near black(dark grey) PS Q3, but it does not handle the warped vinyl too good so I rarely use it.

Thanks Nevone
I'm pleased with it.

Can anyone give me any prices for what these go for? I have a line where I can get them pretty much any time and maybe could get them for a good price
