i'm getting a whiffy smell off that auction, poor grainy pics, broken tape deck, vague description, and its already up to £82 with 9 days left..

hmmm (scratches his head in confusion)

ghettoman - 2011-12-17 13:33

Who is betting that we never here from these guys ever again ? join up,advertize boombox, log out, never to be hurd from again !!

just a tad annoying !

deliverance - 2011-12-17 13:38

dont know why they do that because folks on here wont pay the money they want , after all we all want good deals . would it not be an idea to not be able to sell any thing till you have enough posts?

dogtemple - 2011-12-17 14:01

they always think people on here, being collectors, will want to buy their old boxes at full price.

I dont know who it is that pays top dollar for these things on ebay etc, but im pretty sure they dont come on here!

claret.badger - 2011-12-17 14:11

^ hahaha
damn straight

That has to be the post of the day andy,i absolutely agree man !!

mccaffem - 2011-12-17 17:45

Talk about character assassination. I'm try to selling an old box on eBay for a friend on eBay, that's all. (she found it in her loft) Picture is a bit grainy only because it's an iPad pic. No other reason.

Also I'm as surprised as anyone that it somehow got to £82 so quick....  As we all know most eBay auctions sit stagnant until the last day.... I can only conclude that the 29+ people that started watching this listing immediately after I posted on this site (that supposedly is full of people that are not interested) are not any of the negative/suspicious posters above.

For any more people that want to have a look : http://goo.gl/BQZTO

mccaffem - 2011-12-17 18:00

Another thing... The tape deck works. If you read the question, which I have clearly answered, I think it will help a lot.

The attitude of a core minority of users on [specialist] forums really stinks.

woodz93 - 2011-12-17 18:05

@deliverance: another forum online about boomboxes has that policy (many people here are there too), it has a wealth of info on just about every boombox out there, probably due the policy you mentioned . one person there answered the 'how much is this ____ worth?' in the best most concise way ever:

'boomboxes are worth what people are willing to pay and what you are willing to sell it for'

@Dogtemple: In an example of crazy eBay bidding, here is a current one of a RX-DT680. NO ONE here would pay that, i'm sure...

@Mccaffem: can't blame the folk, i mean, this is a forum, not a 'hi how much is this, want it?' never to be heard from again. I'm a newbie too, but I can imagine how many people have done that over the years, i'm sure it gets old fast..

Since when did these RX-DT680 boomboxes become shit hot? If they are really worth gold I'll go buy the one that's been sitting at my radio repairman's shop for years not selling at $120.

eric

mccaffem - 2011-12-17 19:03

Once I've sold it, I think I'll stay on this forum just to prove you all wrong! How much time do you think would count as a reasonable commitment?

They're good boxes, the RX series has some serious fans here. Then again, that can be said of any good boombox out there. I just ended up getting one of those because I had a RX-CT950 once upon a time and trashed it. Wanted another one, except... I haven't seen one of those sell lately aside from ebay, where a dude is still wanting $200 for it. Bleh... ur kidding me?? Look for yourself:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Panaso...d-rare-/110756405085

If you are in the states, tack on a $20-$30 fee for converting your dinero to canadian funds... what a rip.

After reading the reviews on this forum, I instead decided to find a RX-DT680. Scored one for 45 bucks w/remote, cleaned it up, fixed the cassette mechanisms and lovin' it...

its nothing personal dude, but ive been on this site since 2004 and it happens often, someone comes on here with a blaster offering it for some daft price like theyre doing us a favour.

it does get slightly tiresome.  theyre only coming on here thinking theyll get some absurd price for something they didnt believe was worth much - until they looked it up on ebay and got stars in their eyes.

im watching your auction to see how much it goes for, i suspect 25 other people might be doing the same.  i was watching before this thread cropped up btw

ghettoman - 2011-12-18 06:30

absolutely correct mr dogtemple son, thats what i was trying to say..

mccaffem,we get post like yours time and time again, you are new with only one box, propper boombox enthusiasts or collectors join here and introduce themselves and talk about what boxes they have or boxes they dream to own,but you just turned up,said nothing and said you have a box for sale on ebay,we have lots and lots of newbies doing that, they turn up,join, tell us they are selling a box, once they sold their box they dissapear, never to be seen again,if you are genuine and you have a real passion for boxes,i appologise for accusing you,and i appologise for what i said..good luck with your box sale..

Starting here - Staying here - for your's & everybody's else's Lifetime would be reasonable as one would think a member should be on here for...

Like to know more of your exploits with boombox's and or cassette audio related item's or are you on here ( just to sell your item ) thinkng that the collection of people that belong to this website are NOT aware of what is being sold Globally where-ever on whatever sale's site?

You are mistaken if you are... Still we appreciate your letting the collection of people here ... know that 'whatever cassette realated item'  is for sale

Feel Free as this website is, to; Contribute any other 'cassette-related'  items you may find in the  wild   to the member's here before resorting to epay or whatever....

I could go on; an on, an on, a...

mccaffem - 2011-12-18 12:29

My goodness, I didn't realise you were supposed to make a lifetime commitment when you signed up to forums such as these, but if those are indeed the rules then so be it.

I have a feeling the vocal minority are drowning out the silent majority, as has been very obviously proven with the success that ensued immediately after my initial post.

I will also continue to stand my ground in so far as I did nothing wrong in simply trying to drum up a little bit of interest... Again something I feel confident in saying has been a resounding success.

stretch - 2011-12-18 12:36

Think of this though: It is the vocal majority that makes up the 'majority' of the forum. If the silent minority is indeed silent, then that 'minority' is such a small part of the forum's activities that they influence very little. Focus on the majority

eric

deliverance - 2011-12-18 12:38

no one is asking you to commit, its just members get pissed of people just joining to sell there stuff and then have no interest in the club , you shouldent complain your box is doing very well

well the only interest that you drummed up is in the satisfaction of that you stirred the pot on this website and and I am, as part of the collective of individuals on here am  attempting to keep you interested in here - rather that push you away - or something like that - cause the people here feel a bit miffed for people to arrive on here to make a buc or 2 and then slide away - to be not heard from again untill their next sale or whatever.

I think that the people on here think that if you are gonna arrive on here to sell something then you need to have a repetorie ( did I spell that right ) with the other's on here b4 commensing with a sale of whatever

me - i prefer to sell via youtube rather than epay - and I get - well I have been, well - nah, and anyway am learning  uploaded mere hours ago ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PncMB6lF5EM about my new camera

the silent one's on here are either Not here or dont care or have a life or dont wanna text or... Nothing texted nothing known

  Here's a oldie but a goodie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJ52ISeq6jo of mine

I only have 364 video's on this page sofar I have Four pages and am working on a Fifth...

mccaffem - 2011-12-18 16:22

There you go again with laying down the law... Why do I 'need to' anything?  If people don't like what they read they would be best advised to move to another thread rather than indulge he who annoys them so. The nature of this thread (not started by me) seemed an ideal place to let a few people know what I was doing with disrupting another unrelated thread. People seem to have gone to an awfully long effort in being annoyed. One might speculate you specifically wanted to have a go at the first person (any person) that you came across that dared to step outside the boundaries of your skewed etiquette. One might speculate further that by continuing with this indulgence you perhaps want to keep this 'debate' alive.
