WOW!!!   thats nice Retro, seems like the 9996 could be more like a 3 piece kind of boomer , still looks great tho.

retro - 2011-07-20 18:08

Thank you driptip, many more to come.

radio.raheem - 2011-07-25 08:34

Nice one Retro....you must be clogged down wall to wall with these brocheres

retro - 2011-07-25 15:59

The funny thing is, I found this in another box with others I honestly don't remember purchasing. I must have had a few to many that night while ebaying.

Wow, has anyone ever seen a 9996 before?  By the size of the cassette door it looks like it's half the size of it's bigger brother.

how does that go .. any question not asked is a stupid question ??? dont know...

here is our answer:

It's just a way to get a wider stereo seperation recording and using better? External microphones than the one that are builtin to the Boombox - also if you think about it? .. also because using the (external Microphones) you are helping to eliminate the internal sounds of the boombox itself - like the cassette motor whirring for instance...

this model also has internal mic's 'L+R'.

Some of the Sanyo's Came with these Came with the external Mic's and Holder's for the mic's that attached to the boombox in special slots provided just and only for that application.

This is not the only model that came with external mic's provided - the Sanyo M7900K came with external mic's as well.  If you google search for the Sanyo M7900k you may find a video about that model with the microphones installed and working

another model is the Sanyo M920 came with those mic's

Present day it is Very Hard to find one of these Boombox's that came with the External Microphones - when new as a Complete set - or that is the boombox with the external mic's.

It is Relatively easy to find this model the Sanyo M9998 but if you find one without the cassette deck working - it will be costly, more so, than the average boombox to have the belts replaced, as this is a very difficult box to replace the belts in.

never seen a Sanyo M9996 in real life before...only in this brochure above

I have this 9996 plus mics and it's no slouch either, I'll be honest, never tried recording with the mics but it sure looks good.

redbenjoe - 2011-11-07 10:55

the 9996 sounds GREAT --with very serious bass -

i am lucky to have this black version and a silver one -

plus the siemens edition

I just found this old pic of the 9996 in silver, and with round grilles.

redbenjoe - 2011-11-07 16:01

thats it !!

and- to quell the confusion -- the black one in the AO last picture is a 9998 -

not a 9996

Thanks for posting!  That brochure shows the ideal environment for the 9998.....on a shelf.  It's great for hooking to a computer for watching a movie.  Has great ability to reproduce low-frequency bass using the line in.  Less so with the radio and tape.

Now if I could just find some extra wall space to put a shelf...
