I'm sure that 9994 isn't a Chinese clone  Oh, wait... The lantern is the Chinese one... Still morning here lol

senasgarsas - 2013-11-19 02:57

But ''LUCKY'' still looking good

seb968 - 2013-11-19 03:06

Very interesting to see these clones. Coppies; although not as desirable as the origionals, allways fascinate me!

brutus442 - 2013-11-19 08:05

This one is a classic....156Watts YEAH!

crack

I'd like to buy one of these and give it to my crack-smoking Mayor...it might settle him down a bit.

My god, looks amazing, the albino 9994.

love the mic section, looks like another speaker or tweeter section.

clever idea.

michiel - 2015-03-28 02:24

Here an other picture in daylight. Unit is exact the same size as a RX-5600 and about half a kilo heavier. So it looks like an 9994, but its bigger and heavier. Top panel is aluminium. Speaker grills are all metal, including the mic covers. The controls have the Chinese feel. Its totally bling, never seen anything like it!

Great pics Retro! This example is missing the back tag. Cant believe it sips only 20 Watts!

Hope you all enjoy my avatar. I'm in party mood this weekend!

It all makes sense now !

Let me explain my thoughts

Seeing this topic

gave me the opportunity

to compare both the Sanyo M9994 and the Lasonic TRC-918

side by  side .

It made me realise

that actually the Lucky TRC-918

or the Lasonic TRC-918 are clones of the

Sanyo M9994 .

All sections on both boxes are in near perfect match

and the similarities can be recognised with a trained eye
I had  this in mind since the compare i did between the

Lasonic TRC-920 which is an oversized version of the Sanyo M7900

and the Lasonic TRC-909 which imo is a clone of

of the Sanyo M-9980.

Now if this is not the case one must admit that

Lasonic (engineers, industrial designers, the whole team and i dont know who else) were at least inspired by Sanyo.

One more thing, for me Lasonic and Lucky were the same company.

Back then the goods where made in the same factory but i guess

for reasons of marketing on different countries (don know what else)

they named their models under the Lucky or Lasonic brand.

Now for the Sanyo M-9994 (which  i guess is the star of the week).

The Silver Chinese version looks so nice and i havent seen one before

but the Japanese actually have an Original Silver model

of it which is the Sanyo MR-X965 and i think that this model

is not known by many of us but i remembered that i saw it once and here it is.

It must be a very rare unit .

Retro this is such a nice topic thanks for the pics and everything !!!

michiel - 2015-03-28 03:10

Great explanation Deech! Yeah, that MR-X965 is very cool!

andyboombox - 2015-03-28 03:53

another great topic,so i wonder how cheaper the chinese clones are in value now, thats totally from a buyer like me's kind of view, cos i cant afford the prices of the real mccoys

michiel - 2015-03-28 05:01

I can't say much about prices of these Chinese boxes Andy. I only know what I paid for this one. It suits my collection and taste perfectly so it was really a case of YOLO
