OK now that the boombox is out of the bag I'm sensing this box may reach insane hights. I think we are all going to lose our courtesy on this one and it's every collector for himself. Do I hear $1000? Maybe $1500 or more?

That's no paint job. I've seen a few, and I mean FEW while I was a kid in Europe. Not even sure they sold in the 'States.

also - we cant knock ourselves for always wanting different and cool -
but if all we ever saw or had were those silver 550s -- and suddenly a new shiny black one popped up -- we would all be talking about how rare and stunning the black model was -- you know !

I'm stunned, it only sold for EUR 404 or $592 US. I expected bidding to go much higher than that. I think somebody made a pretty good buy.

Reasonable amount considering it was over here in Germany. A lot of stuff can be had really cheap here as most sellers only use bank transfer, which is of no use to the international market. I use paypal, and so offer my radios up internationally and I regularly get twice the usual price for radios I sell.

Knew Punkpechen would get it, the rascal...

Beatbox, I've noticed that.
Why are so many people in Germany not signing up for PayPal? Even with the negative press and stories the bottom line is using PayPal makes buying easy and increases the sales price. Especially true for those of us in the U.S.A, many of these sellers ship worldwide but only accept bank transfers. We can all do bank transfers but it's costly.

The one black with white speakers definetly it is.Never had or seen one before...
