Hmmmm, he state that you get an 'iPod player' as well as the boombox.
Yet there are no pics of the iPod player...
Interesting!

he states:
"WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET!
# LASONIC I931 GHETTOBLASTER
# IPOD PLAYER
# BRAND NEW AND SEALED......"
"# IPOD PLAYER" could mean as well :it PLAYS ipod files,he doesn`t say "included a ipod player"
And also he says:"WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET!"I do not see an ipod unit....
very interesting true...

I don't SEE an iPod player, either!
It almost sounds like the seller thinks an iPod is included with the i931.
Problem is... as his photos show, he's already unpacked an i931 and knows there's no iPod.
Confusing, contradictory, misleading or what?
it`s still available here... and here for $169 They write "arriving soon",nevertheless a board member bought it there and got it within a couple days...

well i bought one from Fry's Electronics 06 march 2008 and I have sold mine allready for $230.00 , I paid 216w/tax and charged him for my gas, so i made like $14.00 bucks...to the neighborhood security guard but he liked it that it was big and loud and he went and got a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo jack-wire to play his cassette's through with,,,, as i didnt like the door that the i-pod thingy goes into , so its gone ... I'll stick to cassette's Players! like the Sanyo M-X720K I just won off the bay... James

Looks to me like this guy was one of the turds that swooped in and bought all of a stores inventory thinking he would make a killing. Also sounds like he's using a forked tongue to try and sell them.
I hope he chokes on his i931's.
masterblaster84 - 2008-03-18 08:21
We should all send him offers of $100.
he declined my 200 offer

Give it a month or two and he may panic and unload them at a loss for $200 or less.

He's nothing but the same kind of enterprising loser who went out and bought Xbox 360's and PS3's on launch day to re-sell for 2-3 times the retail price.
The difference is, nobody wants his product.
that guy will be lucky if he makes his money back on them,i will wait till they go down to $99.00 in the stores then i will buy one if that ever happens ,other wise i'll just stick will the old skool boxes.

Your right and that's why I'm getting such twisted pleasure out of watching him spin his wheels and waste his money trying to sell them at a price he's not going to get.

Scalping isn't just for tickets anymore.
Hold on. It took me a while (I'm not the brightest bulb in the house), but I finally figured out that the "iPod player" listed in this auction (the one you see and then you get) is the Lasonic boombox itself, and not an actual iPod. The i931 plays iPods; therefore, it's an iPod player.
So, when winning bidders (assuming there are any) write and ask, "Hey, where's my iPod player?" the seller can write back, "I sent it to you. It's the big black rectangular thing inside the sealed box." Gotcha!
Why can't I think of clever money-making schemes like that??

And your point is..... ? I already made that point. I just called them losers instead of scalpers.
Btw, love the avatar. I wonder what the other guy looked like
panasonic.fan - 2008-03-18 16:34
Oh, and if you look at the other stuff he's trying to pawn off as rare, 'leet, etc. it's all pretty much the same thing.
He's a dreamer stuck on the SYB.
ok answer me this then where ( present day ) can you buy a decent sounding boombox that play's cassette's ? HUH ? I thought so, NoWhere, is where...
he had been eyeballing my 935 rounded version and had sounded it and played ever function that it has and it all still works and was willing to buy it from me but now he has a workaround way of playing his cassette's and 2 volume controls to play with to get the best sound FROM Basically a Portable Amp Box with speakers and its Impressive looking but still has that very easily breakable cheezy ipod flimsy DOOR with only 1 clip to hold it closed .......... so I sold it !!!!!!! yAAAAAyyyy !!!!

Your point was well taken. I just have a habit of restating the obvious. It's one of my many annoying qualities.

Thanks! I thought it would be a fun avatar because it's in such stark contrast to DM4U's distinguished photo at the front door of his Houston Metro bus. Plus, it's symbolic of my brief and fairly unsuccessful bus driving career (albeit not in Houston).

Absolutely amazing. There's one born every minute, I guess.
But don't worry, Lasonic fans. This seller has at least two more i931's that I'm sure he'll gladly sacrifice at three times the original price.
panasonic.fan - 2008-03-18 22:31
I sent the "winner" of that auction a note letting him know that the seller was stealing from him. I also gave him the address of our site, so if you see someone from France asking about how to pick one up for much less than $600, please help him out.
There's Frys by my work - if anybody really wants one of those - I could go check if they have any....

At $279, I'd call that a light fleece job. The most it's been for sale at in retail is $219. Also, his ad is misleading as it is not hard to find. Unless you count finding it on Ebay for a less than ridiculous mark up.
I will grant you, his premium is chump change compared to the other guy.

Ok, I went to Fry's this morning - there's one Lasonic on display and 3 sealed in the box. They might also have some in the back - I didn't even bother asking. Price is $199 plus 8.25% tax.
So if anybody REALLY wants one - I don't mind getting it for yall
They also have new Blaupunkt - one on display and one sealed in the box. $99 + tax
I want one.....send me your paypal address via PM and I'll get shipping and cost over to you.
Chris
PM sent
Is that ok if I ship it to you in the original box? Or what is your shipping preferences?
By the way - if anybody else wants one - speak up now! I don't want to go to Frys every single day - I'd rather get everything all at once, so I'll be going back there sometime Saturday in the afternoon, so I accept requests until then
masterblaster84 - 2008-03-21 13:35
Vladi, why don't you just buy all of them then sell them to members at an ebay discount of $500 each.
This is very cool thing to offer, the last time I checked my local Fry's they were sold out. Probably bought out by these ebay opportunists trying to jack us for $750.
Don, that is an awesome idea - I'll even send you $50 from each Lasonic I sell for $500
The thing is once you do the math you realize just what it takes to sell something and over come the sales tax.... ebay fees... PayPal fees... Shipping costs... PayPal fees on the shipping costs... Packing and a box so you don't have to send it in the original box with a label on it (one of my pet peeves) Do the math and just see how expensive it is to sell a $199 item at no profit on ebay. Oh and be willing to give away your gas and time? If you put ANY sort of value on that it gets pretty expensive pretty quick.
I see people get spittin mad when they see product being offered at seemingly high mark up when it just barely covers expenses. The same thing goes with stores in general. Even with the traditional "keystone mark-up" of doubling the wholesale cost to come up with a retail price there is not much profit in it once you pay for the rent, utilities, labor, etc etc.
BTW I am not in retail or manufacturing, nor do I want to be, but I don't think many people realize just what it takes to get the product into their greasy little hands, much less R&D and manufacture the sucker...
here they are on this shelf .....
oops you got one allready

Errr, I think we all know how enterprise works.
We just don't like the way these parasites are taking something that is commercially available, making it unavailable by buying so many at a time and then selling them back to the general public.
quote:
but I don't think many people realize just what it takes to get the product into their greasy little hands
These sellers are the reason a regular guy will call Frys and get the 'we're out of stock' reply on something that was fine in the shop where it was before these greedy 'entrepeneurs' got their hands on them.
You make it sound like it is such a horrendous chore for these people to sell radios.
Why don't they just leave them on the shelves then?
Apologies for my tone of voice, but this stuff makes me really
masterblaster84 - 2008-03-22 08:32
Beatbox you are right. It's the sellers who are trying to corner the market and make the radio unavailable so those who just have to have one will unnecessarily cough up $750 just to get it. There are always those who just can't wait to get the product and will pay almost anything, it's these people that empower the sellers. Does anyone remember, XBox 360, PS3, Tickle me Elmo, etc...
As for how hard it is to get products to buyers that's a nice story but it's not that difficult. I've been selling on ebay since 2000 and you learn what you need and how to handle the sales so it's not such a burden. No matter how difficult moving a product may be it still doesn't justify what these sellers are trying to do.
I would simply suggest everybody wait out the intial release and buy the i931 at or below retail then these sellers will get burned holding on to the radios and have to sell at a loss. They only have 30 days to return them to Fry's so if nobody buys they have a choice to make and you might see those boxes back on the shelves in your local Fry's within a few weeks.
vlad. pm sent. May be too late?
Also gonna throw you an additional $25 for you helping out

Not too late - but first take a look at this thread -
$169 LasonicThat seems like a better deal - see if you can get one from there - and if not - I will be happy to get one for you from my Frys. So let me know either way
No one has yet recieved this item yet?
I'll set up an order to see what shipping would cost.
So... Lets forget you doing a pick up at this time.
I do greatly appreciate your offer to do this. Thanks
