GF-9797's aren't nearly this good, I think the box is overpriced by at least $300 to $400.
GF9797
James asked seller a Q?
Dear mangenon,
well for a bid of that HIGH I would expect to see a link to see a little movie of this working in all functions: Cassette, radio, an such, with a Narritive you speaking, of it's operation on Youtube.com or tinypic.com or something like that before I would Spend this Huge amount of $$$ for this ($240.00 - I guess) when it was new. James
Very nice unit, that is a lot of ching $$$$$$ though.
Nice unit. But I don't think that unit came out till about 1983-84, not 1981 it came out after I bought my 9696.Can someone confirm this???
1981 seems to early for a 9797.JENS??
last year 2 of them went for 17 eu ,and 19 eu full fuction on eb.de.
so you`ll never know...
cit. METAD:

Just another example of how every Tom, D**k and Harry out there to make a quick buck is *ruining* the hobby.
also - i think this same seller has had other over-priced boxes recently that did not sell
It might be true that it was made in 1981 - here's a link to what little I could find on

This IS the same seller who has tried to sell boxes for double and triple the fair mkt value.

He turned around sold it like a month later for like 90 bucks,TART!

Anybody have a GF-9797? Bredgeo has mentioned before that the 9797 doesn't sound nearly as good as it looks. He's a Sharp fanatic, a great s2go member and has proven quite knowledgable so I think his opinion is pretty reliable.

I have 3 of these . Al 3 are built in 1981. What the sound concerns , the sound is very good , not like the big guys but well balanced. What i like most is the quality of the tuner. Very high sensitivity
