If I lived in the U.S that would no longer be for sale.

Rock On.
If I collected Lasonic this auction would be over. Or if it was a JVC grail NIB....
It is tempting.... but not for me....
Nice to know they are still out there brand new in the box...If I hadn't just bought an M90 this week that would be on it's way to me

Damn....... I just lost your address,LOL!!!
Hey Scott, Dont loan the $$ just give us your credit card # and I will do the rest
Guys... Id jump all over this if I had a grand sitting around.
I am in the same city though, so if anyone wants to contact the seller and see if they are up for it.
I can check it out in person... and if the seller is cool with it, and a member here buys it. I will pick it up, and ship it myself!!!
Triple boxed and the works!
Hey, I was thinking...
I dont think this thing has EVER even been openned!
Would any of us feel comfortable buying this box if the seller wont carefully open it and show the contents?
Im trying to think how I can get the dough together. Probably not gonna happen though!
Strange thing is... there is ANOTHER ONE locally on Craigslist that claims to be in 100% working order, 'make offer!'
They offer to send photos on request, which Ive done, but nothing yet.
Here is the ad:

"This Boom Box is the "holy grail" of big boxes."
Rare to find one like this, but a little pricey.

Jeff, get this one for a real low price and I'll buy it from you on a "rent to own" plan

Someone should buy this, then, send it to Lasonic to make New production molds and reproduce the 975 again
Let Lasonic get their own 975 on eBay like the rest of us! It ain't like they can't afford it.

I guess he doesn't know that when it comes to "holy grails", some big boxes are holier than others. It is a "holy grail" tho...
If I had the money to throw away, I'd buy it, but for the most part, I'd rather get a used near mint one for far less cash.
do some of you still know the holy grail-list???

For someone in particular, I guess, but you are incorrect. No Lasonic model was ever discussed, much less ended up on the Grail list/page back when the discussion and the page was named (and argued).
Kind of why the list and the discussion is moot, people cannot seperate personal desires from influencing their choices. I think it's safe to say in a rational discussion that this would never be on the list.
I agree Monolithic... that a cheaper, near minty 975 would be money ahead.
Not on the list, sure; but so worthy of sitting on one of our shelves!
There is no way I could NOT open that box! To be the first one to pull it out of the plastic, etc.
Any chance it would be non working for sitting so long?

I don't know anything about that list (and you already know I don't like the idea of a "grail list"), but what
is a grail and what
is not a grail overall sounds like a personal thing that easily varies from person to person... And then it also depends on what your definition of "is" is.
Alright, no more "grail" talk.
Moving right along...

If I ever came across any NIB, I'd open it.
If I had 2 of the same box, I'd open one of 'em. Either way, as a collector, it would be wrong NOT to open it up.
there is no grail list - grail is just a word

A word used by sellers to unload their product at a hopefully high price.
Again, I must stress that we no longer talk about...
Right...
Id so totally have to open this grail up!
Oops!
I agree, what might be grail to one person might not even be on another persons list
its pretty much like how much a person is willing to buy or sell something for
Seller on Craigslist of the other local 975 is not responding to calls or emails.
i have 92 grails
the 975 is a very nice box no question about that for looks is OK but the sound
, so in my opinion not worth 1000.

its just business, how a box sounds doesn't matter anymore. the winning bidder will most likely never break the seal of the box. 6 months from now it will be back on ebay for 2,000 to be passed on to the next person. it seems boxes lately change hands 10 times or more within just a years time
no,what i mean is the list of boomboxes published on stereo2go 7 or 8 years ago.
the old members should remember.
I'd open it for sure, It would still be a MINT condition TRC-975 and I think this is one collectible that is better out in the open. I have lot's of sealed toys from the 80s that I would never open but this is just Crying out to be displayed
