I'm offering my Aiwa CS660U here first before I put it on Ebay. It's time to move on and offer it to someone else.
It is in excellent condition with a few light scuffs by the cassette controls.
The radio works great on all bands.
The cassette plays great, but the music search is finicky and works on certain tapes. all three belts have been replaced.
The only bad thing is that the DSL button is stuck "on" all the time. It needs a new switch but at least it is stuck in the "on' position and it works.
The battery compartment has no corrosion. and it has the original knobs and switches and the original antenna.
I'm asking $200.00 OBO + shipping.
Or I might be willing to trade for a unit of equal size or value.
skippy -- you left out a few little matters --
forgot to tell how great it SOUNDS, how well the line-in and controls work
and - aside from the very few marks -- how clean and minty and beautiful it really is
so--,
say all that
I suspect now that this Aiwa originally came from Ira
like doh !!
and then skippy broke some parts and made those yellow circles.
hey vladi
--forgot this part
the aiwa660 is one of the THREE great one piece boxes you dont have yet --
comparo size-wize -
its in the good league as your m70 and your gf9696 --
but with bass that comes on ALOT sooner.
and - imho - its not as powerful as your big ben --but it 'hangs'
-----------------------------
finally - for a smarter opinion --ask Don the MasterBlaster
Yes it does sound great and it can get quite LOUD!
The scratches were on this when I got it from Ira.
I suspect he will tell you it happened during shipping.....
Very nice unit indeed!
Im impressed with Aiwa products from this ira! I mean era.

I first have to find me Sharp WF-939 - and then Sanyo 650. But this Aiwa does look super nice!
Scott, whoever buys it - do not send it via USPS!!

do not send it via USPS!!
Yes U.S.P.S. Sucks!!!!!!
I only ship through FedEx.
I can insure it easier and I have an actual tracking number that works "imagine that"!

gentlemen --we are losing track of the mission !!!
these are rare ,beautiful --sound wonderful -
and any member who does not chuck in an offer --
is a screw-up!!
my 2 cents is its an awesome box i have one also very loud and bassy cannot go wrong with this box if any of you guys do not have this box consider it because you will not be desappointed its a great radio to add to your collection
Yes Ramon
100%.
Trades,offers........ anyone interested?
I'm interested. Here are the top ten reasons why I've been holding back.
1. Even though I like this Aiwa, I already have enough boomboxes. I have no idea where I'll put this one. Actually, I still don't know where I'm going to put the last eight boomboxes I've bought!
2. I wanted everyone else who wanted it to get a chance to get it. I don't want to look greedy (even though I am). But now... time's up!
3. I don't want to be another decent Texas bus driver, scooping up everything in (and out of) sight (even though the urge is there).
4. One of my New Year's resolutions was never to buy another boombox ever again as long as I live. (See reason #1.) I actually thought I could hold out longer than three days before breaking it.
5. If it's so nice, why are you selling it?
6. If it's so nice, why did Ira sell it to you?
7. Speaking of Ira, I've already spent most of my IRA's (and 401K's) on boomboxes. My retirement is looking more and more like I'll be ridin' the rails from town to town in box cars.
8. Thanks to the economy, the little money I have left in my IRA's and 401K's is shrinking as we speak. (You can actually hear the scrunching sound if you listen carefully.)
9. It's not like I brought 2008 to a close by being thrifty. By late December, taking into consideration the cost of Christmas gifts, the fact that I paid for the liquor at our family's Christmas party, and seeing as how I felt obligated to give our weary (3 heavy boxes per week x 52 weeks = weary) postal carrier subtiantially more than the standard holiday tip, I was hemorrhaging cash worse than General Motors.
10. Ira touched it.
See my PM for my (under the) counter-offer.
P.m.ed you back
The main reason I'm selling it is
Ira owned it.
The second reason I'm offering it up for sale is I have had it for a while, and I like to "rotate my stock"so to speak. I just like to switch boomboxes once in a while.
I like to rotate stock too... keeps it fresh that way.
We are supposed to tip our postal carriers? Even when they walk up to the door, and drop the bbx on the ground while standing in a full up right position?! Yes... tis true. I openned the door at the same exact moment to a shocked usps employee who started talking mighty fast.
I'll trade you my Transformers bbx action figure for it! I'll even cover shipping!
Hey, and when did this idea of greed being bad start? Flaunting it ok... but nothings wrong with a little behind the scenes, under the table greed is there?
hey baby boomer --
what a great piece of writing !!
loved that #4

i can answer 2 of your questions/ concerns :
#5 --skippy sells EVERYTHING !! he just sold a near mint aiwa #880 to vladi --within a month after he got it from me --and it was so good --that its sort or irreplaceable !!
so -- skippy is whatever the word is for the opposite of a hoarder
anybody know the word for THAT !!???
#6 -- the only reason i sold it to skippy is that i already had another excellent #660 -
my final promotional effort --is to say that its one of very best one piece boxes.

I go about it a little differently. I just keep getting new stock and sticking it in front of the old stock. It keeps my line-of-sight fresh, but that's all. The boomboxes sitting in back have all started to rot.
Good think I don't work at a grocery store.

That would be antihoarder.......
Or maybe a "passer-alonger."

I read that there are two reasons to give holiday tips to those who serve us:
1. to thank them for their good service.
2. to encourage them to give us good service.
Over the years I've learned that reason #1 works; reason #2 doesn't.
skippy is one of the best passer alongers there is ,most would not sell much less trade some of the boxes he's passed along and he is very reasonable and easy to deal with and alot of members here have boxes from skippy that are very hard to find and he has always treated me right, just my 2 cents worth.
Thanks Floyd!
Thats very kind of you.
Yes! A great passer alonger.
What will our non English speaking members make of that phrase when the ol translation program meets it head on?
I'll make it simple, a 'middle man.' Passing goods along from point A to point B. Keeping it just long enough to enjoy it some for himself!
I like the idea of not rotating stock, but merely freshening up the line of sight. Yes... I see now Ive been going about it wrong all these years!
660, 880, lets not forget my 770!

Skippy, I got to two of my shipping containers today, didn't find what we had discussed yet. I'm not sure if I'll get to the others before the beginning of next week. Please let me know if you'll take my offer so I can wrap this up before I catch a plane tomorrow for a job interview.
P.F,I P.M.ed you back.
The Aiwa CS660 is Sold !!!!!!
Thanks everyone who made excellent offers to me.
It was sold to a prominent and well known member here.

Yes, it can be less than sinister.
Hmmm..... I am confused... is that setting the bar high? Or extremely low?
sin is an extraordinary prominent member.
so the bar is outrageous high.
but he just posted that he was not the winner -
(too long a drive from oakland)
