think again

redbenjoe - 2008-07-29 22:03

for some reason -- he has not been posting here for a long time --
some members just lose interest in collecting boxes .

(hard to believe) Smile

(un)DM4U, that list is meaningless. There is no such thing as dibs if it comes down to folks getting into a bidding war -- where stupidity is certain to reign.

On second thought, it sounds like you'll be right in the thick of it.

jaredscottfla - 2008-07-29 23:55

I Agree main reason,i'm sitting on the sidelines on this!~

- 2008-07-30 02:42

I guess so,,,, since this has been started up again ,,, the interest in all of this....

RBJ I've been sitting on the sidelines letting this play out. There's a lot of optimism, pessimism and ideas on how to handle this so I felt my input might be to much and unecessary. Wink

I'll tell you though If I were close enough, had the time, enough space and the cash I would buy the whole bunch then sell them off (to members or ePay). In order for this to happen fairly that may be exactly what's necessary.

moncheeto - 2008-07-30 08:48

well i guess i am going to have to buy the whole thing before someone rips me off of one Laugh Out Loud

reli - 2008-07-30 13:00

Well whatever the case, I've sent him my offer, and Ira that includes your M90.

redbenjoe - 2008-07-30 13:54

ok reli -- i think (??) that was a good idea to step up and actually DO $$something --

because after a while -- our posts that have no firm offers -- wont count Smile

Ira, I haven't given any offers yet because this thread was really running a lot of directions and I was waiting for something a little more structured to come from it. I think this needs to be more structured if it's going to happen, likely would require one person to direct it rather than all of us participating as equals and competing. Just my thought but it seems to informal at this point to work.

redbenjoe - 2008-07-30 14:52

i agree with you MB --

it is confusing and perhaps overwhelming to have that outstanding collection --right in our laps --

and then take a chance of blowing it all --
because we dont know what to do or how to divvy it up --

as far as i know --no other member has offered their entire collection to s2g --

so obviously - none of us have any experience at this ---
_______________________

---to me - i am thinking of it all - as a clean and simple 'private ebay' for us s2g members only -

if that is the case --then all we each have to do -is to post up our bids --and whoever is highest on any box (or boxes) wins it --

---so there are NO DIBS on any box --

finally - if/when the grand total hits 10K --the we (as a group) have bought the collection -

and if we dont hit the 10K --
then --we dont get any boxes --

but it was fun trying ---

so, thats all i can surmise --

anybody agree ??

also --the Pan Fan plan -- has more organizational potential --and perhaps a better chance of success --

(but less fun) Smile

masterblaster84 - 2008-07-30 15:04

Okay, I'll play along. Big Grin

How about:
$875 for Panasonic RX-5350
$550 for the Sharp GF-9696

I'm not going to offer on the other two I had expressed interest in. I need to keep the money under some control. Granted, $1350 is not much control but it's more control than spending $2500. Nod Yes

Now I'm open to competitive bidding which I usually don't let myself get caught up in so let's see what happens. Roll Eyes

- 2008-07-30 15:06

I think for your plan to work ira you need dm4u to bid at least 9k on the boxed m70 Laugh Out Loud because i think there are no other boxes in that collection apart from the m90 that are worth 1 k eg those minnies are only worth a 10nner each bottom line this collection is way over priced me thinks.

Tim unfortunately I think your right, no matter what kind of prices I give those boxes they have to be at a very high premium to equal $10k. Frown

vladi123456 - 2008-07-30 15:21

I'm really tempted by the Sanyo 920 with the original mics - can I charge it to Ira's paypal?? Big Grin

Don, you should up your 5350 bid - from my experience - this is one box you would NOT regret having Smile

redbenjoe - 2008-07-30 15:29

don - i agree with vladi about the 5350 --
its just a VERY expensive box to buy --and this one says near mint with an original sticker --

his 9696 is awesome -- but wont sound even 1/2 as good as the 5350 -- (or 1/3) Smile

so you might be better off going real high on the 5350 and forget the 9696 --

of course - thats just one humble opinion !!

vladi123456 - 2008-07-30 15:32

Ya, and since we're talking about 5350s - Ira - thanks again! Big Grin Those 5350s are even more rare than M90s - or so it seems....

reli - 2008-07-30 15:38

So the 5350 actually sounds good? Cuz from what I've heard around here, most Panny's don't.......kinda weak on the bass. And my 5150 sounds like someone stuck a layer of carpet between the speakers and the grills.

redbenjoe - 2008-07-30 15:56

as a rare treat -- rimmer is right about something !! Laugh Out Loud

YES - dm4u could most definitely be the hero of s2g --if he comes up with a $$biggie to scoop the NIB JVCs --

or else --we may never hit the 10k

vladi123456 - 2008-07-30 16:01

Reli,
5350 sounds pretty good. I would say that sound-wise it's probably my 3rd favorite box - after M90 and Sanyo BigBen. Looks wise - it's just insanely awesome. Everybody who comes to over - that is the first box they notice - it gets the most compliments. Smile

masterblaster84 - 2008-07-31 08:31

Vladi and RBJ, are you guys secretly getting a commision from the seller? Wink
Okay I changed my number to $900 for the RX-5350. I know your still going to say higher but I have an extreme resistance level when I'm approaching $1000 for any boombox, frankly I think I might be nuts for even considering spending $900 on a boombox.

- 2008-07-31 08:38

ok let me back down to $901.00 Eek
Winkis the RX-5350 Really that terrific to go to 1K ? In that case ... I'll get that high presently .... Eek

redbenjoe - 2008-07-31 08:48

no james - it sucks Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud

Where are you seeing that price? I would pay $450 for a near mint RX-5350 in a flash and I'm sure other members would do the same.

sikorsky - 2008-07-31 11:00

I got mine from yahoo

reli - 2008-07-31 11:03

huh?

sikorsky - 2008-07-31 11:08

huh. and it was the last for that price.

jaredscottfla - 2008-07-31 11:10

congrats... Leaving

reli - 2008-07-31 11:19

When did you buy it?

sikorsky - 2008-07-31 11:24

Thanks. It is not PR of Yahoo. It is a matter of luck. I got my 25 bbx from short time - half year. Who is looking for - he finds. And it was not only Yahoo. Good luck with your "massive attack" of that seller Smile

vladi123456 - 2008-07-31 12:21

Mike, how do you like BigBen?

sikorsky - 2008-07-31 12:34

It is impressive!
