masterblaster84 - 2008-11-02 18:05

greedy ****
I dunno - it just seems so weird to me - to sell an empty box!! Next thing you know - they are going to start selling pictures of empty boxes or something
masterblaster84 - 2008-11-02 18:14
Now just think if you could sell little pieces of that box like some celebs hair. You could sell thousands of pieces.
Ya, something like - *This beautiful one square inch piece comes from the top of the empty Sanyo box - mildly stained with a slight smell of dog pee and 100% authentic - starting bid $100*
masterblaster84 - 2008-11-02 18:21
Exactly! Now go bid on that box.
you guys
but yr right vladi selling the box is rediculas unless it was an m90 box.
ps cant fatdawg make one of those.
You guys aren't thinking outside the box. LOL!
Just think, if you already have the M-X820K, this is the next thing that should be on your list. After you get the original box, find the original inserts (manual, test tape, etc.)
Then when you go to sell it, you can make WAY more money than if you just sold the boombox by itself.
i once sold a box to a star wars ship "Awing" for around 150.00 suckers i mean there are individually out there that are into those type of things
I admit I've bought boxes for a few of my transistor radios. Didn't pay an arm and a leg for them, but paid something. The radios are worth way more if you sell them that way, and they just look/feel more complete/satisfying if you keep them.
You guys are right - it would definately increase a resale value - I didn't think of that. Too bad nobody but Petey Awol owns one of those
none of my boxes have boxes
jaredscottfla - 2008-11-02 21:20
I saw it too,I'm with the group that thinks it's weird, and Yes Ira, Me too My boxes Have no boxes.
well jared -- your gift for being a neighbor ----
is that the next box i get with a box -
you can have the box
jaredscottfla - 2008-11-02 21:45
hey actually ---i just remembered ::
i once did win a box with a box.
but--the box had lots of corrosion -
so then - i won another box.
and put that box in the box.
and sold it on ebay--
as a box with a box.
------and that is 100% NO BS -true story
Owning boxed boxes make you feel like you're in 1982 (or '83, '84... take your pick) all over again. The boombox Golden Age! Whether or not that's a good thing is debatable. I like it.
Well i think its a bit weird that they are selling it too...... because if i had it i would be keeping it

(Better than trying to get a lousy buck for it!)

the Next thing on my list to fill this void ....
Hmmm
Well this made me go and look as I thought that
I had one of these .... NOPE !!!
but not one of these below ....
Sanyo M-X820K cardboard box only
Sanyo M-X820K cardboard box only x820k-1
Sanyo M-X820K cardboard box only end x820k-3
Sanyo M-X820K cardboard box only serial x820k-4
Sanyo M-X820K cardboard box only otherside x820k-5
Sanyo M-X820K cardboard box only closeup x820k-2
But NOT a Sanyo M-X820K above there ....
I have a Sanyo M-X520K, Sanyo M-X720K, Sanyo M-X920K
((( top to Bottom )))
as you can see here below
100_4318 sanyo m-x520k sanyo m-x720k sanyo m-x920k crop
820 is one of the rare sanyos james , not the standards . .
I don't understand how people here think selling a boombox box is stupid or greedy . . sellers can sell what ever they want as far as I am concerned.
Plus it could double the value of your boombox , as fatdog says . .
I,ve got around 70 boxed boxes,i've bought just the box in the past and as royal says,it doubled,if not more the value of the boombox itself.I,ve also found empty boxes for stereos at recycling centres
If the guy can get money for the box,and someone gets to put thier boomer in it,everyones a winner.Just depends on what someone wants to pay for it

Thats Fun, i ll try this. So i have to bring all my empty boxes to the roof, make some pics and sell em.
with royal but I wished it would be a Conion C100F, M90,Sharp VZ-3500, or a Helix Wheely 5000 box
.
So much talk, and not a single bid yet?
But on a serious note - I guess I've never looked at my collection from a reseller's point of view. All the boomboxes I have - I would not sell them - even if I needed money. Instead - I would maybe dress as a Playboy bunny and stand on a corner and offer topless carwashes - the neighbors will pay me to just get me off the street
Maybe something like this - anybody wants to pay me $5 to take this pic off-line???
i send petey a PM last night-- the 820 he scored also came with the orig mics --
PETEY ---are you our there ??? GET THIS !!!
------------------------
with you guys that claim the cartons can get valuable --
in my actual -- one time example (see above)--
my guess is that the orig box earned an extra few hundred $$-
---------------------------
asking if you carton collectors do store them in some 'sterelized' environment ??
cuz --hate to put the whammy on this thread --but old stored cardboard boxes are the welcome hotels for some sick. disgusting creatures --
plus rat piss.
(seriously)
I actually think people would pay for photos of boomboxes!
I mean... How many of us bought the Data Base?!
I only wish someone would print up a heavy/quality coffee table book with in period, and modern photos!
I actually looked into it myself, but just one prototype book was massively expensive!
Yeah, if I could find a Marantz box! Since they probably werent even sold here, Id have to dumpster dive in Asia somewhere!
do anyone here know one of S2G member
ledmeterplease wake him up because he owns a M-x820 from me years b4
i think he need it, indeed~!
WOW! Henry! Do for me something good too!
I want the same box.
p.s. and knobs you know
p.p.s your avatar is great.
p.p.p.s me drunk... geeeee

Henry you have to make it a quest and find another Sanyo M-X820 there has to be more out there!
with Fatdog if you own a Sanyo M-X820 and come across this auction of the cardboard box. The boombox automatically increases in value.
If I had this boombox I would go for it but I don't.
People, people......I'm ON IT!! LOL....
Unbelivable...someone else be bidding on it now....oh well...am i going to go bidding war on a piece of cardboard?? Probally not...I got the manual so I might not give a flying fart....
Cost Me $10.50. Only one other bid aside of mine? Hmmm.
Petey, that probably means there is only one other Sanyo 820 owner in the whole USA
Surprised I'm really the only one here with it.
This is the most I have ever paid for a piece of squared out cardboard. Better be worth the investment. HAH!
you did great there petey --
how much for the BOXED 820 ??
(and if we make a good deal -- you can KEEP the box) -really
Ira, I'll take the box!
