I forgot to list this one last night.
Sanyo 920 - known issues - tape deck doesn't work, back light doesn't work, the Play button got stuck, so the boombox doesn't power off when push the Power button.
Stereo FM works, and Line-in works as well. It sounds really good - I'm sad to let this one go....
I'm asking $250 plus shipping. USA or Canada only.
you selling all your boxes man?
No, not all!! Just enough to cover the new RX-5350 and the tuner repair on my M90 - it started acting up a couple of days ago - looks like it's time to replace VR-1s finally!
I'm kind of hoping nobody would be interested in this 920 though - so I'd keep it - I really like it
DR. Vladi --in your avitar .
it seems like you are sporting 2 pairs of shades ?

What are VR-1's?
Vladi - I have one so don't need another , hope it finds a good home if it goes, I think these boxes are just stunning.
Interested in what you've tried for your tape deck issues so far, as mine locked up before, and I was devasted. Got some good advice given to me on how to resolve and it worked a treat.. Let me know if you want to know more.
Ira, cool guys in Texas ALWAYS have two pairs of shades - that is how you can tell a *cool dude* from a redneck
j/k
Reli - I've lost FM stereo on my M90, and this article explains how to fix it:
linkEwen, thank you for your response - I would love to know how to solve that problem with the Play button being stuck. So far I have not been able to do anything about it!
This may not be the same problem, but worth a look if you've not already tried it. The advice:
"Seems to be what 80% of boxes with soft-touch decks do. Unless something got shaken to the point of being broken, open the back (without even disconnecting its power connector - there are a couple of antenna wires on the left that are too short, so you just pull them off their pins for now remembering where each one was) and looking from the left toward where the deck is, you will see its large capstan wheel with the belt on it.
Gently pull it with your finger in the direction it should rotate(clockwise if looking from the back - just think of how it should be when a tape is played - otherwise you may dislocate the belt).
After a turn or two, msybe even less, it will either launch the playback or disengage the heads (depending on the position it stuck in).
At this point just hit play/stop a few times (You may have to repeat the wheel pulling if it gets stuck again), and it'll be back to normal."
Good luck!
great advice Ewen --
vladi - he is saying that you should try a simple, manual jump start
Ewen - thank you! Sounds simple enough - even I could do it!

Vladi, no chance for shipping for Canada? eh?
I'll ship to Canada, but let me find out if there are any limits to a size of a packing box I can use. Or do you know of any restrictions size wise?
peter.griffin - 2008-10-27 07:21
I've had a fisher PH490 and an M70 shipped to me from the states so I don't think so.
Do I actually got first dibs? Amazing
I've got several PMs about the Sanyo, but it's still available as of right now
But I'm guessing the shipping is going to be more than $30 though
peter.griffin - 2008-10-27 07:43
Shipping to Canada will be about 60-80bucks. Airmail. That's what the Fisher cost me.
I'm pm'ing you right now.

Ewen,
You are my hero. Thanks to you - now I have a fully working Sanyo 920. I did as you suggested, and the tape deck is now fully functional. Also, I am able to power this Sanyo on and off. And last, but not least - I fixed the backlight - now it's working as well.
I'm super thankfull for your advice!
An interesting observation - I was able to fix all that without even drinking a single beer today (because I'm still too hangover from last 2 nights)
Thank you!
Ya, I forgot to say - this Sanyo is no longer for sale - instead I'm going to sell my Sharp GF-9696
hey vladi - very glad to read that you finally came to terms with your 920 --
remember - i was your 'hero' that told you to get one in the first place --so was surprised you were so ready to chuck it up for sale
there are lots of 9696 fans here --good luck on that easy one

Damn it! I just bought an M-X720.
How much are you wanting for the GF-9696?
Ira, I do remember it was you who helped me with this Sanyo!
yup -- ok that parts done
now how about let give fatdog some dibs on your 9696 ??
But I just let him win Sanyo 720 - how can I let him have another awesome box - all in one week!!!
ok - forget him
but permit me to offer one more suggestion--
then you are on your own with this matter
if you want it known -- that your nice gf9696 is for sale--
then you might consider changing the title of this here thread
Ira, thank you for your excellent suggestion - topic changed!
With Fatdog being first in line!
This is the box that I had an issue with last year - it was making weird humming noise from the left speaker when playing a tape. I fixed it, but just checked the tape deck - and it's doing it again. I took it apart and sprayed some contacts, but the humming is still there. If I press and hold the Edit button (on top) - the noise goes away and the tape plays fine. But once I release the Edit button - the humming noise is back - I must've sprayed the wrong contacts or something.
Other known issues - some rust in the battery compartment, some wear on top, and the antennas arent straight, but not broken or anything
As far as price - for this boombox I want one hundred million dollars. But I really don't know what to ask - I'm going to take it apart tomorrow and spray the contacts again - it did the trick last year. Or make me an offer.
Here are some quick pics.
And I forgot to say - FM stereo works excellent, and so does Line-In. Technically, there's no line-in - I used Phono-In to hook up my MP3 player
Hey Vladi,please check your P.M.
Skippy, no!! I can't accept free dinners for one year in exchange for this boombox!
j/k - check your PM!
Scott, this was my midnight humor - aided by several glasses of Irish cream
I'm celebrating the fixing of Sanyo 920
I thought it was pretty funny......
Great news on the 920 vladi!
And good luck selling your 9696 - the price sounds reasonable - mines absolutely tip top and I think I'd want two hundred million to ever let it go.
I'd probably have to sell an internal organ to get the GF-9696.
About the only thing I could do at the moment is offer a trade. So, I'm off the list, guys.
Next...
Ok, quick update - the GF-9696 is fuly functional - the humming noise is gone - thanks to Fatdog for his excellent suggestion! Ewen, now the price is up to one and a half million - to match yours
Here's a quick video I just took this morning after fixing the deck. I will answer PMs when I get to work - have to run now!
Sounds great Vladi!
Good work!!
My silver grills command the additional $500k.
Ok, I thought about it all day, and here's what I'll do.
If any member here would like this Sharp - I'll sell it for $400 with free shipping.
If nobody is interested by the end of the weekend - I'll put it on Ebay for $450 plus shipping. So let me know!
yup -- somebody buy this vladi 9696 --like NOW!!
i told him that i am patiently waiting for him to clear this sales forum --
so we dont have to compete for the same FEW member buyers ---
with the same NO money
and that might seem a bit funny -- but its true.
Trades?
