Are you serious? I know sellers on both ebay.com and ebay.ca are OBLIGATED to accept Paypal ...they have no choice.
Is ebay.uk different in that regard?

The one in the auction i put the link up to..does'nt sound that bad to me,its only really bad to him because he does'nt know how to fix it,but to someone that knows what they are doing, should'nt be too difficult to fix,i could prob fix it,well i would have a good go thats for sure !
Translation..
Selling a rare radio cassette player / boombox from the '80s.
It is the Hamisonic MA 1065 Human Disco Component "Audio Visual Disco Lite"
The case is fairly well preserved, no cracks, no missing parts. Grid without dents, but dust behind the screen.
The technical condition, however, is very bad.
The following deficiencies:
- The Frequenzdrehrad not responding (no channel selectable)
- Amplifier not working
- Left jammed cassette (not open)
- The left lamp glows brighter than the other
- Housing halves are loose
Therefore, I am selling the unit as defective expressly hobbyists goods / Dismantled
or to be considered as a design object by the beautiful lighting.
On positive note:
The lighting works well, the VU meters of strike. (only can be heard just nothing)
The right cassette deck works (rewind and play)

He doesn't want to accept Paypal because he knows something's wrong with the box, and doesn't want to get hit by Paypal's buyer protection plan.
Either that, or he's another cheapskate who isn't willing to deal with Paypal's fees.
"Gee, let's save 3-4% Paypal fees, that'll teach 'em!!!!"
Meanwhile, he alienates potential bidders, therefore losing a much larger amount of money than they ever would by paying the Paypal fees....
FAIL

Germany was much later than the USA & the UK at using Paypal at all on eBay, so it's quite possible a German seller will be used to using eBay without a Paypal account.

I can never figure that out etheir, their just alot of sellers that refuse to accept Paypal, but then complain when they get excessive amounts of non paying buyers? Granted Paypal and eBay has it faults, like with everything else, just have to learn how to deal with them. But their also a larger customer based and never had issue so far with eBay or Paypal that couldn't be resolved and yes their plenty of scammers buyers, that open up false cases, that abuse the system, to try to steal your item or use extortion to get the item cheaper, or even pull parts out of your item to fix their and then try to sent it back, I seen it all. Reason why I video tape the item working in detail and the repair process, if it was restored and take detail pictures, never lost a case and 100 percent positive and yes you do have to call them as they online system will favor the buyer automatically and if the buyer was a scammer or left wrongful feedback, because they didn't pay, or try scamming you, eBay will remove it, lucky it never when that far.
Your not going to get more anywhere else, or the traffic eBay gets, it almost a necessary evil. You have to accept Paypal as a seller, otherwise don't bother. If you listings are honest and in great detail, you won't have to many issues, as granted you always going to come across, someone that going to try, if you have proof, follow the rules and call, issues can be resolved, before it become a bigger issue.
Only had one bad buyer and they are suspended now, as she claim, the item was in bad condition, when the item was brand-new in the box not a single scratch and try getting a partial refund for most of the cost, I told her to sent it back and she refused, But found out she did the same exact to three others sellers, as I posted a video about the issue warning others? Did win the case due to she refuse to sent the item back for refund and she was shortly suspended. But for the most part have more issue with bad sellers with broken items, that wasn't tested, or bad condition, or piss poor shipping, even had one seller that failed to sent the item and one seller claim AS-IS need a belts never touched and was clearly opened and took all good parts and replaced with broken parts.

There seems to be a correlation between feedback rating and whether or not they accept Paypal. A couple of the top German boombox sellers only have 95-96% positive feedback. I wouldn't accept Paypal either, if I wanted to deceive people and lie about the condition of the box.
