I got a five pack of sealed Maxell XL11 C-100 CHROME tapes for 1buck (plus 5 postage). Not bought blanks off ebay before but the seller said I got a genuine bargain.
Are they rare or super high quality or something?
To be honest I just wanted some chrome tapes to record some vinyl to and loved the gold colouring on the cases. Anyone have any pictures of how the actual tapes look?
Rock On.
Not bad...that's like a $1.20 a tape. Yes, they are rare in the sense that 100 legnth tapes aren't made any more (at least those of good quality), although, if you look around, Maxell XLII tapes can still be found in C60 and C90. They're a good quality type 2 tape.
If possible, don't limit yourself to ebay...check out thrift stores and flee markets. I often find new oldstock (still sealed-brand new) tapes of all makes and grades at places like Goodwill from 25 to 49 cents a piece.
You got a great deal! Those Maxells are really good tapes. I agree with Joe Cool - check out thrift stores and flea markets. Most of my sealed stuff has come from those types of places.
Oh yeah, I regularly trawel the local thrift shops and such. Found a lovely Radioshack still sealed head cleaner that worked marvels on my M-70 the other week.
I've seen some insane prices for blanks.. like
this and much prefer to either get a bargain, or be patient.
Really looking forward to getting these Maxell's loaded up with some of my rarer vinyl!
Rock On.
