He probably could have sold them at that insane price if the tenth tape was also sealed. But for normal people, that should be about a $400 auction at most.

Some try and sell stuff at a high price first, just to see if it sells.
But them home-audio-phll type guys are buying some audio equipment at rediculous prices.
So I guess he thinks he can get that price.

$800 for 9 tapes? Those tapes sell for about $30-40 each, tops.
