Sony Walkman branded tapes

Tape group

Hi,

Today I scored 3 x WM branded tapes...all in nice condition and with an unused TDK AR 90...how common are these tapes? I've seen the Walkman series of pre-recorded types several times but never these...

Have one of those also, still have it with usic I taped back then on it, good tapes but it got eaten by a bad walkman

claret.badger - 2012-04-20 14:52

i found the NORMAL ferric versions of these really awful

brutus442 - 2012-04-20 15:52

Were these available in North America? I don't recal seeing thses before?

nak.d - 2012-04-22 01:19

Unsure of the availability in other markets. I should make a recording on one of these tapes just to test them (when I have time) ... as they are chrome type II hopefully they should be OK, they certainly appear in good condition.

I do own 9 sets of 10, the type I (normal), all sealed. I tested with my D6C, the result is excellent. They look like chrome tapes.

optimized for WALKMAN~?I like them~

These are basically same tapes as Sony UX as you can see 'Chrome Class', which the UX have. The UX have a transparent shell though so you can see the reels moving.

I have a Sony Walkman WMD-DT1 if you're interested.  It was purchased many many years ago and has seen less than 10 hours of use; this due in part to the loss of something small that flew out of the battery compartment in a dark venue.  Whatever that little object was, it was the key to keeping the battery door shut.  The unit was put away and 12 years later I found it and found a quick fix for the battery door.  A thin black velcro strap keeps the door closed, batteries engaged, and plays perfectly.  Would be better if it was fixed by Sony but it does work with the velcro strap.

The overall physical condition is like new.  The unit is well made, nice quality, shiny and clean (except for the battery door issue).  Comes with a tethered remote control unit.

Let me know if you're interested or want to see pictures.  Thanks

Wow, never seen those before.

Frqncy, welcome aboard, the DT1 is an interesting item, I suggest you put an ad in the walkman wanted section.

They are different from compact cassette tapes.

GREAT FIND NAK !!  I have one of those Sony WALKMAN branded tapes in 100 min length in Chrome type II.  Never wanted to remove from orig. wrapping as I have it in showcase with early Sony's.  Curious what you think of its recorded sound.  For a while some time ago I watched for NIB tapes by Walkman mfg. company's to display next to a model.  Here are some of what I have.  Sadly cant comment on sound quality as I leave them NIB.

Yes please an advert would be good, this is the model I want. Roughly how much you looking for and what country you in?

EDIT: is it this one? Amazon WMD-DT1

frqncy - 2012-09-12 01:20

Great forum. Nice to see people still value this technology.

Finally got some pictures to show and listed the Sony DAT player on Amazon to start. Anyone interested is welcome to make an offer.  Open to trade.  Looking into Etsy or other venue that will accommodate more creative payment terms and less commission so I can pass that savings on to the buyer.  Here are photos of actual item.  Thanks for the interest.
