????WTF????
That was interesting
So, would that be considered "Box Blocking"?
Do I even need to comment on James (DM4U) and...
Screw it. We know and have seen this before.
Sorry Ramon.
Sooo its ok to have a offer in there just as long as you Don't Win! Huh? Gee I just dont know anymore.
... Well I won it, to keep it here, so to speak, and At least ya'll know where it went to, So I'll take the blame for having done so, where as nobody else had the gumption or the $$$$ to properly bid to win!
... or to pony up to desiring one of these in the first place, even though I had one in the past that I had won on the bay for nearly 5, so I thought here I could have one again for 2 bills less!

More BS propaganda from the (un)decentman4us.
Are you ignorant IN ADDITION to not being capable of reading the title of this thread (and who it was started by)?
Just admit that you were a jerk about this. At least then someone might find a way to give you a little respect
there is some more bad news about this entire scenario ::
for the entire 7 days prior to this 'new' sony 99 listing -- this exact item was on ebay from this exact same seller --
i do not recognize ANY members code on the bid list --except for mine-
my bid was the runner up --and if it were not for the loser who won it --and then DID NOT PAY --
i had won it FAIR AND SQUARE for $156 !!!!
of course - the greedy pig seller - decided not to sell it to me for the 156 --and instead re-listed it --
so dm4u showed ZERO interest in trying for this box for all of the 7 days.
but then --
our friend ramon -- who always GIVES ALOT here --and asks for NOTHING --finally does post his interest in trying to buy a sony 99-
then- pan fan - TRYING to help out ramon -
replies with this new ebay re-list.
so - suddenly !!!
dm4u .....
and we know the rest --which truly SUCKS
________________________
there IS ONE and ONLY ONE way to turn this ugly case into some justice --and i have sent a PM to dm4u about it --hope it all works out.
i have written all this - in response to the prior pan fan post : "just admit..."
as there is much more than just 'admitting' involved --like something can actually be DONE to earn respect.
without the private details - i hope what i mean is understood.

ooh the horror!!! "insert brando here" im with you man. it truly sux to have some do that to you. someone post a link to try and help then SOMEONE does and snakes it from ya. all in bad forum d4mu
masterblaster84 - 2008-07-15 08:26
PF, It's not about buying all you can anytime you can. This board exists for sharing, stories, boxes, walkmans, pictures, etc. and it is succeeding very well. We aren't in competition with each other rather we are in cooperation with each other. That's what this thread was about and I made my offer before reading it, had I read this thread first I might not have made my offer. I would have received pleasure from knowing I helped a fellow member obtain a box they have been hunting hard for. That doesn't mean I don't want a CFS-99, in fact it's the only Sony I want to add to my collection at this point but Ramon's desire and investment was greater than mine.
It's completely within your right to snap up every box that is listed but what purpose does that serve? There is a deeper meaning to this site than just buying boxes and that's what each one of us has to determine for ourselves but I think sharing and helping are two of the top reasons for this site.
sorry MB to have only mentioned ramon on this one --
anyhow --can you imagine WINNING this thing for $156 --and then watching a fellow member pay $144 MORE for it --2 days later !!
panasonic.fan - 2008-07-15 09:28
Ira, if your suggestion has ANYTHING to do with un-Dm4U selling that box to Ramon for $300, forget it.
Let James CHOKE on his selfishness and poor attitude. He does not even deserve the opportunity to make amends for this. This is not the first time, and given his attitude about it, will certainly NOT be the last.
I believe I have a much better offer. Ramon, I'll be getting in touch with you via PM in a few days.

Actually I bid $202 the last second when the first auction ran (which failed to even register because it had already gone higher) so it prob would have cost a bit more than $156 but thats beside the point. I asked the seller when it came out again why he re-listed it and he said the original buyer had credit issues. Personally I think they all have schill bidders working for them.
Next on the agenda, i'm putting my two cents in. Hate me, delete my account, do what you want but i'm voicing my opinion. As far as the rest of this thread goes, it's laughable. I can't tell if this reminds me more of a sewing circle or a circle jerk? Favors shmavors. Ramon, sorry about your luck man. You will find another one. I made an offer also before I even read any of this since I had bid on the origianl auction as well. If I thought it was worth $300 I would have bought it for the BIN price. However I did not think it was worth it. Apparently James did think it was worth it for whatever reason. So now when another comes along, (which it will) you will have an opportunity to get it for less. Plain and simple, the guy knew it "sold" for almost $300 the first round. He wasn't going to accept offers much less. I don't know what you offered but I offered $200 which was my exact same bid (well, $202) the first time the auction came out and this was before reading anything about this. The guy did not accept and i'm sure wasnt planning to. Facts are, if James didnt buy it then perhaps someone else would have for the same or you would have lost it to me for $200. Then everyone would be yelling at me instead. I took the same chance making an offer instead of using the BIN. But I did not think it was worth $300. Did you?
You know, we make this decision not to mention auction listings in hopes to tone down the potential fires created yada yada, then we create an inferno out of one that is over. I mean if you read this thread you will see that it is ALL OF US that are fueling this nonsense. And PF i'm suprised. You are a moderator, and regardless of what your opinions may be and whether we agree or not, it is your job to attempt to be unbiased and extinguish this. Not pour gasoline.
The thing that Ramon was asking members IMO, was if anyone (a member) had one themselves that they would be willing to part with. Expecting an Ebay auction to satisfy his needs is silly. It's fair game for everyone if you havent figured it out by now. The orginal winner of the auction for almost $300 was not a member here to my knowledge. So, do any of YOU have a cfs-99 for Ramon? If you feel for him, then give yours up. Don't direct him at an auction of all things and then blame someone else when he doesnt win it. I fully hope that if any member here has a CFS-99 for sale in the future that he/she pm's Ramon immediately and gives him the deal of a lifetime on it. Enough said, im done.

No harm Ira, I'm not taking anything personal.
For everyones information I was going to bid on the 99 the first time around but it went to high. The second time he was accepting offers from the start so I offered $220 for it which I thought was a very fair offer.
you're done ?? bashngu
not yet
as usual - you have some well thought out points --
however -- i think you are DEAD WRONG about your expectations of a moderator --
if you notice -- EVERY time a member behaves like a crook or a pig or whatever --
including camaro , conion65 , etc , etc --
Pan Fan has ALOT to say about it --
do you at least agree -- that he always tries FAIRLY to make certain that members treat each other with justice -- ?
or do you suggest that a moderator should do/say NOTHING ?
I suggest that a moderator attempt to put out a fire. A moderator SHOULD attempt to refrain from passing personal judgements on any member current or past. If the members want to talk about someone who is no longer a member, fine but in this case even a moderator should refrain. But if the person is still an active member then they should play mediator. Period. Perhaps a statement like "Although James may have done something we disagree with he had his reasons so let's move on" I'm sorry I don't put James in the same category as A-Hole Mike. I told you I was done IRA. The whole thing is ridiculous. James has been here a long time. SO he buys every box he sees and has a bit of an addiction/obsession. Who cares? We all go through phases. Let him do what he wants. It's obvious he likes them at the very least. Isnt that why we are here? He hasn't ripped anyone off or sold them garbage or stole their money. AND he has not made a personal verbal attack on ANYONE that I know of. Leave him be.
Oh and by the way, before anyone misconstrues anything, I am not implying that PF is a "bad moderator" in any way. He does alot here and the time and effort he has invested here is commendable. Everybody is capable of getting carried away sometimes. We are human.
hey bashngu --
during the very long minutes - that it took you to create and type that long , thoughtful post --
you missed the 8 ( YES, EIGHT) greatest BINs ever in the history of ebay !!
i got em all !!

Everyone here has the right to voice their opinions. Nobody here is telling you how to voice yours, so kindly don't tell me that I cannot voice mine.
This is something I feel strongly about, and am taking action to "make it right" in my own way. As far as I can tell, I'm the only person volunteering to sell Ramon a CFS-99 for about half what the one in question sold for.
Oh sure, I'm being a real fire starter here
This is simply the latest in a long pattern of James stepping over (and usually on) other members trying to pick up boxes. Yes, we could all just be jerkoffs and do whatever we want, but that is not what the "Brotherhood of Boomboxery" is all about.
Perhaps you didn't see where he had already owned/sold one, claiming it wasn't his taste.
Perhaps you also missed the part of his last post above,
right here in Ramon's CFS-99 wanted thread , where he says:
"... or to pony up to desiring one of these in the first place".
Um..... hypocrisy and suspension of reality=TRUE.
Bash, you have every right to say what you want, and we definitely disagree about this. Don't try to transcend the topic into your beliefs about how Moderators don't have the same rights as everyone else here. I put a lot of time in to helping "keep the peace". There are some facts here that are not in dispute, regardless what you or anyone else says. As you can tell, several people here feel very strongly about it.
Perhaps the Brotherhood of Boomboxery (or BoB for short), should contain a mission statement, and membership is based upon a few common sense guidelines. I'm quite certain that "don't screw over another member by snaking a box that you know he is looking for" would be one of them.
panasonic.fan - 2008-07-15 11:07
Bash, got your PM, and responded.
It's all good. We agreed to disagree but with respect for each other.
was reading pan fans post about 'stepping on other members' ---and then the reply about 'let him do whatever he wants'--
so just for the heck of it --here are a few examples of what could happen if there were no s2g standards to help members that post their wishes here :
i. last week member Mono posts that he will be glad to pay 450 for a good jumbo --then lets say a member responds to his post --then ,
soon to be happy and grateful mono --sends the member a pm to ask for his paypal , etc --
but the member says -- sorry ---
dm4u (or etc) just offered him 475 !! and its already on the way
2. i ask in the chat area about the sound quality of the the most rare and desirable grail of all -- the big CROWN #955 --
finally --3 members who are lucky enough to own them --all praise that its even much better than the M90 !!
and one of these members needs some quick cash and invites me to send him a pm with an offer --
by the time i get back from work that same day --
dm4u (or etc) --who never heard of that awesome box before my post --
had BOUGHT IT
______________________
the point is -
thats its far from 'all good' to do whatever you want here --
and still expect to have any self-respect or member respect
thats all.
He also didn't do it here. On our site. He used a Buy It Now on ebay. Fair game for anyone. I'm not saying I agree with what was done or that I would have done the same. What I am saying is let's not let things like this snowball to the point of no return. I don't know James from most others on here other than names and posts. I have never had dealings with him in a sale on either end. The things I am saying are meant to be generalized but I'm using him as an example. (Sorry James) I don't think he bought it just because Ramon wanted it. So his tastes changed or he acted on impulse. I used to hate WX-1's then I wanted one like nothing else. Regardless, I don't sincerely believe it was malicious. Impulsive and non-thought out would be my estimation of it, but I don't think it was malicious. He must like it a little or he wouldnt spend $300 regardless of what he said. Is it the first time somebody here has dissed something then bought one? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO He used a BIN on an auction. Questionable or not, that's all he did. Did he promise Ramon he wouldn't bid and then bid? He said he didnt like it then changed his mind and bought it.
I bought that POS painted discolite that everyone dissed but i'm sure their are a few closet cases who will wish they had grabbed it at some point when i'm done with it.
For the love of god I just realized it was PF who posted the auction link up in the first place!!!!
Should have sent a PM.
I mean what do you want him to say now? For whatever reason he bought it he probably hates it now all over again. You have all succeeded in making him feel like a worm. So the question is does the Brotherhood of Boomboxery have any room for forgiveness?
A simple "you suck james
" would have sufficed.
Now shut up IRA so I can get some work done and continue to be able to pay off my boomboxes!!
bash -- whats funnier than all this --
is that i DID and DO like that POS painted discolite you bought (fair and aquare
)
and now hope that 'nobody' reads this post --
so i will have the first and ONLY dibs --
as soon as you get sick of looking at it
(really)
masterblaster84 - 2008-07-15 13:10
Sorry Ira, I just bought it!
Joking!
SUCKA !!
that was the plan -- to hype it up for 'some' member to snake it --
who know it would be YOU
panasonic.fan - 2008-07-15 13:30
Forgiveness, certainly. When James stops making excuses and simply owns up, sure. I think you're going to see al lot less information sharing publicly due to "the way James rolls", and that's a shame.....
And it doesn't friggin' matter WHERE the box was for sale. He acted on information provided for someone elses benefit, then waxed hypocritical in this thread about it no less. Both of which cannot be disputed.
It's a pattern of behavior, that as James as found out, is not appreciated by many. It was just too many things all coming together Bash. "I have no room" while buying left and right. "Not my taste", then buying another one. Then the asinine statement in this thread.
I agree, I think the point has been made.
so i have this really kool very rare box for sale. does anyone want it. cheap bin
so swell of you to make such a generous offer --check your last 18 PMs
will do chappy

Hey that's the way I roll brother, your just to weak and slow.
Please advise me of your most desired boxes so that I may snipe them with ridiculous offers and despite knowing you have long been on the hunt for them.
I already have fifty (or a least three) copies of each. I want to own them all!
And don't worry they're not really my type but I'll buy it anyway.
