Jay..how many 777's you got now ? Just them ones in your avatar ? i think its safe to say,you like GF777s !
Where you get them all ? they look like the types from china ? there was also a guy in leeds selling aload, said they were out of a container or something
I reconize the one at the back with the paint work!!?? was that on ebay!! I almost went for that for my garden boomer!!!
Yeah Gettoman I am a very big fan of the GF777. I have a lot of history around them as my older brother had one back in the 80's and my other brother had the rts913 which I still have.
I have been collecting for the past 15 or so years, this is not a new hobby to me. I'm just really an undercover collector just like my cars . I was to young to have one when I was a kid but I did get a GF7500 a few yeas later.
3 of my booxes came from the state's as I have family in New York & Canada, 2 from China (1 which was "made in China" and proberly the best sounding box out of the lot) and 2 from the UK (on being the GF767 and the other with the painted grills not long ago. The reason I wanted this was the fact a UK model GF777E. It's was not in bad condition but it was really dirty with dust every where. This one I want to restore from the shell up. I'm gonna write a jounal on it, or I may just leave to show this one has seen and lived the streets.
Yeah Gettoman I did see those one in Leeds. But most of mine are in very very good condition, I have one which is almost new looking, and 3 with original "fibred material like lables"
Not repo's
I have more boxes which need fixing up. I am after a C-100F and a M90 (isn't ever one)
When I spent some time in New York in the early 80's my cosin had the C-100f which I though was cool, but I wanted my own GF777, Canal street New York was heaven to me as most electronic stores had all the big boxes on sale, even the Discolite which I was offered as a cheap alternative to the GF777.
I will tell more in my introduction write up to the forum.
Regards
Jay-T
Welcome Jay T, I know what u meen man, I'm from N.Y.C. and back in the 80's I would walk the entire block from Canal st. I would take the train to Jay st. over the Brookln Bridge and there was plenty of Electronic stores, As well as 3rd ave. from 103 st. to 117st. Can't forget about the Bronx man 149 st. and up. The 80's Electronic store was heaven to me. I sure miss those days. Which there was a time machine.
I sometimes dream of going into an Electronic store and seeing hundreds of boomboxes, I buy a few but when I wake up from the dream I'm empty no boomboxes.
In all those boxes Jay T you happen to have a case for a 777Z going spare, or a spares box with a decent case unit?
