I know that these are all expesive and no I am not rich. I recently paid off my student loans and need to splurge. I have been looking around and I really do not want to get into fixing boxes or getting parts boxes. Is it reasonable to find these mint? Mint meaning everything working, all knobs, etc? If I am kidding myself on this please tell me. Do the conions ever come up for sale? I live in the USA and I am unsure of which models allow 115 volts. I will buy from overseas if I have to. I see the marantz on ebay now but I am really worried about the shipping distance and handling. Any input from the experts out there? Redbenjoe has been a great asset in this topic. Thank you again.

Some come up more often than others. If you buy from ebay or craiglist or whatever you run the risk of crap packaging and therefore damage, and inaccurate descriptions of the item. Buying from members should give a greater quality of packaging.
Some you will find in mint but rarely, this hobby takes a long time to get what you want, be patient.
Many of the boxes you mention are not inexpensive and many members/ebayers ask for silly money (not an attack but this is a fact) so don't expect to pickup one of these for cheap.
The voltage issue is got around by using a voltage adapter, many members have these.
also you gotta remember that not every so called expensive box is gonna cost you the world
there is a lot of members here who have picked some top of the line boxes up for peanuts including myself.
most of the time it,s about luck
so get round your local junk stores, flea markets e.t.c. and start digging, you may score good.
and the answer to your question about all boxes being scrappers, no theres loads of boxes out there still like new, even still boxed if your one of the elite lucky ones
look hard enough and you will find, like DOCS says, it takes time
im sure you,ll score soon enough
oh one more thing i almost forgot, you may not need a voltage converter, some boxes have a v selector switch built on, just check with the seller before buying if you go the ebay route
Thank you for the good advice. I was looking on ebay and some do not have any description what so ever. I will keep hitting up these forums.
